Tipping Point

The 12.30am repeats from that same day though, aren’t they?

I believe they are.

Todd Woodbridge just had a chat with Sam McClure on 3AW’s Wide World of Sports, about the recent Davis Cup and next month’s Australian Open. At the end of the chat, Todd said that he had already recorded 100 episodes of Tipping Point Australia.

I hope Todd doesn’t find his own Tipping Point with the summer Tennis and game show workload.

I’m not sure there would be an overload. If he’s already filmed 100 episodes that’s 5 months worth. He’s probably having December off then Tennis in January and he could still even have another month off after that before needing to get back to filming Tipping Point.

Also worth noting, he’ll be out of the country for two months between mid-June and August, for Wimbledon and Paris Olympics coverage. Therefore, conceivably, he could record some episodes with Australian expats as contestants while in London…

They probably will do that, even just 10 or 20 if they can find enough new expats to compete.

TIPPING POINT AUSTRALIA

Sunday 24 December 7:00 PM

A special Christmas Eve sneak peek of Tipping Point Australia hosted by Todd Woodbridge.

Nine has scheduled the first episode of the new Tipping Point Australia next Sunday night ahead of Carols By Candlelight. The night delivers on of Nine’s best shares of the year so should bring in a big audience.

Good idea… especially when there is a million people tuning into nine that night.

Will it be one of the episodes Todd filmed in London earlier this year, featuring Aussie expats?

Clever scheduling.

Why would they? These gameshows aren’t filmed daily you know. They usually churn them out at a rate of 3-4 a day so can pretty much churn out enough for the entire year in 2-3 months.

It sounds like they’ve filmed 100 - I doubt they’re holding off on any more until they see if it works out which they should know within a few weeks of it debuting, so he’ll probably do another block of filming in the studio at some point before the French Open which would get enough in the can to fill the rest of the year. Then they’ll film again after the US Open to begin stocking up for next year.

P.S. Funnily enough as it launches in Australia we may be seeing the beginning of the end of it in the UK. I don’t think it’ll be axed quite yet but it looks like it’ll lose it’s year round 4pm slot as Deal or No Deal has rated better in the slot for it’s first revival series so is likely to get recommissioned for longer runs and Jeopardy is being played in the slot in January, plus Ben is heavily tipped to be the new host of This Morning which will likely be a bigger commitment than his GMB role. We also know they’ve cut the number of new episodes filmed this year from 150 to 100 episodes too.

That was unexpected. But clever indeed.

And in primetime too? Nice.

No Christmas with Delta repeat, or Shrek the Halls prior to the Carols? Now thats a rarity

In a late change, Christmas With Delta got moved to the Saturday before to make way for this.

Well played Nine. I’ll be tuning in for sure.

Nine definitely has me on Christmas Eve.

And also smart as Carols ad breaks are usually the first where we see better/bigger promos for 2024 such as the tennis, as well as Married. Nine will have fun with the cross-promo having Todd ‘Everywhere’

It could play out really well or badly. Alot of people would miss since they would be at parties instead of in front of the TV. But I’ll be definitely watching!

Looks like the premiere episode will be only half an hour. I wonder how the half-hour format is going to work when all other shows will be a full hour (just like its UK counterpart)?

Could they have only (say) two contestants and a reformatted show, just like the half-hour version of The Chase? It’s just a case of wait and see.

Who says it’s 30 mins?
