No, I was saying you were incorrect that all the positive reviews Ive read are from News ltd.

Hang on… this show must be filmed in Melbourne, yes? Im starting to see a pattern with you Mr @Underarm , to your dislikes and likes.

You’re more Watson than Sherlock Holmes.
Chick-Lit is not my cup of tea. I’m not fond of the Bachelor. Nor Love Child. The Secret Daughter doesn’t appeal either.
Perhaps you’ve mixed me up with Luke.

Give the show a go… you might like it!

Beers and more beers and hold on another :stuck_out_tongue:

Ive been sitting here biting my tongue but now I have seen the first episode and can see where it is going I thought it was very interesting the creators quoted in a recent interview that Zoe’s book would only make a feature movie and to extend that to 8 episodes they added all this extra stuff like a breakfast TV show team.

I came up with this concept over 3 years ago, I even filmed a pilot which I shopped around the networks and has been online for well over 2 years on various sites and social media. I even got an article on TV Tonight (Australia’s biggest TV blog) because Karl Stefanovic cameo’d in it. you can see it here.

I was given feedback and advice from the networks and many well known producers that it was a great idea but people werent interested in tv shows about tv shows… Without even asking me where I saw mine progressing. cut to now and we have a show with the same themes based off a book about a girl in a love triangle. even the hosts are carbon copies of mine.

Although I saw mine more of a sitcom type of show in the same vein as ā€œThe Officeā€ I didn’t have the relationships or networks to be taken seriously. Its very frustrating because I spent a good 2 years developing it further and writing out more scripts. The pilot I filmed was just to show off the idea.

I would love to hear feedback from you guys on the project idea and what you think about my situation?

Cheers

Hi Drew I feel frustration in terms of plagiarism and haven’t seen your pilot, until now, and haven’t seen the Wrong Girl yet. So I can’t really comment yet. If you feel your ideas have been stolen or used in this show I would speak to a lawyer. I’ve just started a law degree so would offer up my services but I am not quite there haha

Hey, its funny you see all these Youtube celebs getting funding now because of their popularity and it seems once they get in they keep getting funding no matter what the project.

I’ve promoted it on Facebook with sponsored ads and the trailer and promo has had close to 70,000 views, no to mention on Youtube too. I get at least 100 new views on the page everyday (none seem to click the like button though lol) and because Ive been involved or trying to get involved in the industry for years Ive sent out the feelers a lot and lost count of who Ive sent it to or discussed it with it but I have a long list of emails I could print out.

I don’t begrudge someones success and I am a fan of Jessica Marais but to me its more than just getting another show picked up it was/is my passion project.

Jessica Marais is right as The Wrong Girl in Ten’s new rom-com

I hear this show is great, one journalist said it’s better than The Secret Daughter

Just off the top of my head - The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Murphy Brown, The Box, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Episodes, The Larry Sanders Show, and there’s plenty more. A silly reason they gave you.

30 Rock, Frontline, Prime Time. Maybe the last one is a bad example. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I can’t help but see the resemblance to the 2010 movie ā€˜Morning Glory’.

I was one of the ā€œluckyā€ people who were able to watch this through Tenplay. It’s different to Doctor Doctor and targets a younger demographic. It takes a while to get into, but stay for the ride as it’s fantastic.

Indeed the demographic of young millennial girls that have just started their periods and the demographic of girls that stay home crying into their bucket of ice cream moaning about not having a ā€˜hunky’ boyfriend or living vicariously through the lead female.

I wonder why this chick flit is infesting ten? Why would you deliberately exclude have of the demographic based on gender and a large portion of women that simply cannot identify with or object to the tone/characters of the drama.

Between Bachelor, Bachelorette, Offspring & Wrong Girl it’s like estrogen heaven. Yes the ratings are quite good, but imagine would it could be with commissions that didn’t alienate so many Australians.

Sorry to hear about your terrible experiences. Unfortunately that’s how it is entertainment world. It’s not what you know but who you know. If it’s a passion keep trying to pitch it and find someone that can help you refine the idea. I’d just bombard someone on social media or stalk their local bars/hangouts and force the pitch on them again. Also the industry is incredibly fickle, one minute something is hot, then it’s not. Try again after a few episodes air.

Maybe you should try 9 again. They love copying ten and using their formats against them.

It was STAN I tried with them. I am a big supporter of Australian comedy, I even run a website for it at www.comedyoz.com where I have posted my own project as well as established productions and emerging producers on TV or online.

But I am finding it harder to post lately as it seems I’m writing about the same people all the time. If you take a look at the blog section there’s a post about character driven shows which aren’t just about putting well known names in which I think we are lacking here.

and regarding Wrong Girl I don’t see how they are selling it as a drama? They are even planning on having a separate online section for The Breakfast Bar as extra content… So what. Talking heads stuff?

It’s great you’re doing something proactive as well as showcasing others.

Have you heard anything about the Comedy Showroom season 2 or commissions. It seemed like the ABC was trying to push for some new comedy blood rather than relying on the same faces like It’s a date.

I do agree though it can be incredibly tiresome to see the same faces time and again. As you said it’s to try and drum up publicity and tap into existing fanbases and because scripted content costs so much money from startup I can’t see that changing only getting worse with the current climate. Best go with the known than the unknown. It’s all the rage in America too. Less risk which given the evolution of the industry it should be the complete opposite. The cronyism in the industry certainly doesn’t help. I guess all you can do is get your message out there and keep chipping away.

That’s the funny thing… the comedy showroom was a farce. the industry is now making well known names and production companies compete for series its not even about emerging people. Freshblood was apparently for that but then again most people who got into that were from Youtube or pre-existing relationships with ABC.

One of the writers of Bed Head which got into Freshblood is now working on The Wrong Girl.

Madeleine West was inspired by Nine’s morning stars for her new gig in The Wrong Girl.
