The Voice

Such a shame they record 4 endings… that just didn’t feel like she or Rita were genuinely excited.
Must be hard to “pretend” you’ve won.

It’s just absolutely bullshit.
Surely they could have got the 4 finalists together
To announce the winner. This needs to change IMO!!

I turned it on for this moment, and thought when they announced Tarryn she was ‘through to the top 2’ based off the reactions. Had to rewind a cpl times. Very underwhelming moment for the GF announcement.

I was quite surprised that Tarryn won, because Charlie had quite a big following on social media so should have been able to gather more votes from his followers.

The two reasons the grand final was pre-recorded were: to suit the schedules of the judges (particularly Rita and Jason) and to allow time to build those large, elaborate sets for each performance. If the producers can get rid of those sets and just rely on the LED screen in the background for special effects, and the judges are willing to travel at short notice, I think next year’s grand final can be shown live.

It is mostly a cost cutting exercise. Given that, they aren’t going to film a live finale months after the rest of the season has been recorded and production has ended (plus if they were going to put production back on then they might as well film a few nights of live shows close together or it wouldn’t be worth their effort). Most of these judges also would only sign up due to the short filming commitment and it would keep their costs down too. Rita has already started recording The Masked Singer USA as a judge for the next season.

What I mostly don’t like about this show is how much of the focus is on the judges over the contestants. They pick the songs, they create a lot of fake drama/theatrics and keep as many contestants as they can for as long as they can. A few performances and you’re in the finale solely because your judge picked you. No wonder barely anyone has a career after the show. With all the filler and judges performances that they do throughout the season, you’d think they would maybe bring back last year’s winner or something for a performance (like Lachie, who is releasing a lot of music but once you’ve won this show it’s like they’ve already forgotten about you).

100% guarantee the reason it was pre-recorded was to save money. Motto of an industry that is close to death if not already → save money

That shouldn’t be a barrier, X factor and DWTS have had some more elaborate sets during live shows for individual performances.

The winner’s announcement was so bland and lacking excitement that I think they used the footage that followed the performance with glitter and confetti falling just once as it seemed to be generic and not celebrating anyone is particular. Just looked like random hugging.

I searched this forum and remembered that Tarryn competed on Seven’s All Together Now back in 2018, coming second. She was listed as a primary school teacher. This is what I posted at the time:

This wasn’t the same Royston that won Australian Idol as well was it? I’m thinking no because he’s quite young - but would be funny if both winners were on that show.

Yes that’s him. Royston has improved a lot since All Together Now.

So that means the winners of Australian Idol and The Voice, were both in the top 3 of All Together Now. Interesting.

So a few days after the finale, Tarryn is at number 2 on the iTunes singles chart and number 5 on the albums chart. Thats pretty good, given the past record of some The Voice contestants.

Unfortunately that is the sales chart which is pretty non existent anymore, might only be in the 100s of sales for the week if it is very lucky.

It is number 2 behind a song off a 15 year old album, that is charting because it was on Take 5 with Zan Rowe which had less than half the viewers of The Voice finale.

Thanks for that insight.

2024 Upfronts

The spinning red chairs are back in 2024, as host Sonia Kruger and superstar coaches search for Australia’s next singing sensation. The 2023 season of The Voice smashed it out of the park, reaching 11.7 million people, routinely winning its timeslot and generating big numbers on 7plus. Next year will be bigger, better and noisier. The Voice is produced by ITV Studios Australia for the Seven Network.

Tarryn’s performances on Telethon this weekend have been a stand out.
