The Voice

This week’s Woman’s Day reported that former X Factor judge Guy Sebastian could be the new judge on The Voice next year. Guy was on Kyle & Jackie O on KIIS this morning, and he told the hosts that he has been asked to replace Joe Jonas on the show but hasn’t yet signed on.

Guy Sebastian will be announced as the 4th coach at around 8:50 on Today

Officially confirmed.

Guy Sebastian joins Delta Goodrem and Ronan Keating as the only artists to have been judges on two singing competitions on Australian TV. Delta was a judge on the final season of Australian Idol in 2009 and has been a judge on The Voice every year except 2014. Ronan was a judge on The X Factor from 2010 to 2014 before joining The Voice for 2016.

Recycling judges from another show…again. How innovative and exciting. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

pretty sure that was a temporary thing with a revolving seat of hosts, after what happened to Jay Dee.

GUY SEBASTIAN IS THE NEW SUPERSTAR COACH ON THE VOICE

ARIA Award-winner and multi-platinum singer, songwriter and producer Guy Sebastian will be the fourth coach on the next season of The Voice Australia in 2018, levelling the playing field with two Australian superstar coaches.

After capturing the hearts of Australians with his amazing vocal talent in 2003, Sebastian became the first winner of Australian Idol. He shot to fame with his first solo single, Angels Brought Me Here , which debuted at number one and was the fastest selling Australian single in ARIA chart history.

Guy Sebastian joins returning coaches Kelly Rowland , Boy George and fellow Aussie Delta Goodrem to complete the lineup of superstar coaches on Season 8 of The Voice . This will be the first time since season one that the famous red chairs have been home to two Australian coaches.

“I’m really pumped to join the panel of coaches on the new season of The Voice ,” Sebastian said. “Being a musician over the last 15 years has been an extremely fulfilling time. I love that I can share my experience with some new aspiring artists so we can inject some fresh talent into the music industry.

“I am really looking forward to representing Australia with the amazing Delta against the music history-makers Kelly and George – what a way to start 2019!”

Nine’s Director of Television, Michael Healy said: “Guy Sebastian is one of Australia’s biggest hitmakers and a hugely accomplished musician. We would like to welcome him to The Voice family to join fellow Aussie Delta, Kelly Rowland and Boy George in competing to coach a new crop of the best new singers in the land”.

Sebastian has had a big impact on the Australian and international music scene. He is the only Australian male artist in chart history to have six number one singles and two number one albums, as well as becoming the first Australian to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest, in 2015.

Sebastian has released 11 top 10 singles and three top 15 singles, six of which have achieved multi-platinum certification, including the 11-time platinum Battle Scars . It featured Lupe Fiasco and spent 20 weeks on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, as well as going platinum in the USA – making Guy one of the few Australian artists with this achievement.

Along with collaborations with a range of Australian and international stars, Sebastian has firsthand knowledge and experience as an artist wanting to break into the music industry on a show like The Voice , which makes him a great asset for the famous red chairs and the coaching team.

The Voice Australia , hosted by Sonia Kruger, will return to Nine in 2019. The program is produced by ITV Australia on behalf of Nine.

I thought he was announcing his retirement from singing, to concentrate on his personal training business? That tweet seems to be deleted now.

That was a prank tweet. Kyle and Jackie O made him do it when he appeared on their radio or show. The alternative they gave him was to leak a nude pic and delete it. That’s what they make their guests do now. Thy’re all class.

Obviously trying to save money by getting a domestic artist on board. This announcement shows Nine know their big franchise is on the way out I think. Guy won’t reinvigorate the show and ratings will continue to wane.

Yep, I reckon the 2019 season of The Voice Australia will most likely be the last.

I actually prefer it to be a domestic guest. We don’t need big name international artists judging our local singing shows. I’m actually more interested in this season now with Guy on board.

Nine has confirmed to News Corp that this season will introduce a new All Stars format in which former contestants return for another chance at the title, by taking part in blind auditions.

In a world first, this season of The Voice will see the redemption of the most championed Voice fan favourites, who missed out on their chance to take out the title, they will return as ALL STARS and compete against the new talent for places on the coaches teams.

EDIT: Nine Entertainment’s press release on The Voice All Stars audition can be found here

The knockout round tickets are now available from That’s the Ticket website. In this round, three artists from the same team will compete against each other. Only one artist from each round will make it to the battles round.
DATE: Friday March 8 and Saturday March 9
APPROX TIMES: 2:00pm arrival, approx 7:30pm finish

The battles round tickets are now available from That’s the Ticket website. In this round, two artists from different teams will compete against each other. Only one artist from each Battle will make it to the live shows.
DATE: Thursday March 28 and Friday March 29
APPROX TIMES: 2:15pm arrival, approx 7:30pm finish

I think the new season will premiere on Easter Monday, April 22. The Logies will be held on Sunday June 30 so obviously The Voice has to finish before it. If this season keeps the same duration as last year (3 weeks of blind auditions, 1 week of knockouts, 1 week of battles, 5 weeks of live shows including the grand final) I think the grand final will be held on the week of June 23. However, the second State of Origin match in Perth will be played on June 23, so could we be looking at a Monday night grand final?

Denyer made the shocking claim on his 2Day FM breakfast show this morning and said there are “some terrible things happening around the production” of the current season of The Voice which is being filmed at Fox Studios in Sydney. “It’s already falling apart,” he said.

Going into detail about a “disastrous” day of filming a couple of weeks ago, Denyer said: “They were running three hours over and the audience had already been there for nearly nine hours for a record.

“It got so bad that the audience … started booing in the record. When the judges started pressing the buzzers, people were like, ‘Boo!’ They were revolting.

In a statement to news.com.au, a spokeswoman for The Voice said: “The records for the Knockout round did run over, as often filming does, but no one was held against their will and was free to leave as soon as it was safe to do so.

Im reading that as an admittance they were not letting people out when they wanted to. What was unsafe?

Sounds shady to me.

Did I miss something here? What does Grant Denyer have to do with The Voice?
