I agree. Is the talent pool for the auditions that small?
Recent contestants from other reality shows, and seasoned peformers shouldn’t apply.

Cassie Henderson has had multiple NZ charted songs and did The X Factor NZ (got to the last eight) in 2013 or so as a teenager.
Team Kate and Team Ronan were complete following the final audition last night, with Saralyn taking the last spot.
The Battles begin next Sunday (September 8) and will run for three weeks.
The Battles begin! Fourteen artists will step into the ring, paired off to deliver duets of the same song. But there can only be one winner per battle, forcing the coaches to make tough decisions.
Format (from Seven’s press kit in June)
The preview shows all four coaches pressing the save button at once, after a battle.
Did anyone else see Sonia Kruger sniffing a baby? I thought it was very bizarre.
They smell a lot better than old age pensioners. ![]()
Battles explainer: When the Blind Auditions are over and the Coaches have assembled their teams of 10 artists, the Battles begin. In this round, artists from each team face off in pairs. This season sees 20 Battles – five per Coach team – with only one winner emerging from each. In a dramatic twist, each Coach also has the power to save one additional artist – from their own team or another – who would otherwise be eliminated.

The Battles continue! 14 more artists enter the battle. Mel C and Ronan still have their Saves, giving a lifeline to a singer. Who will be able to rise to the challenge when the pressure builds?
Got to “love” The Voice ads. Always over dramatic. And when you watch the show, you think “was that it - all that hype for a 10 second non-event”?
Tonight, Ronan walks off stage saying “I need a moment” (or to that extent). Judges and Sonia are “shocked”.
Judges on The Voice have been walking off stage for years. It’s nothing new. They talk to a producer off camera to debrief, and come back and choose who goes to the next round, and then it’s all smiles gain.

Sunday 28 September
They survived The Blinds and The Battles, now Team Melanie C & Team Richard face The Knockouts! Six become two. Who has the star power for the Semi-Finals?
No show next Sunday (October 5) due to the NRL Grand Final.
Last year, Seven scheduled a new episode of The Voice against the NRL GF. The move backfired: the episode posted the lowest audience of the season.
Nine artists sent home as Melanie C and Richard Marx pick Semi-Finalists
Tonight, on The Voice on Seven and 7plus, the Knockouts brought high stakes and heartbreaks as artists from Team Melanie C and Team Richard fought for just two coveted Semi-Final spots on each team.
For Team Melanie C, the first Knockout saw Meg Drummond, Callan James and Gemma Hollingsworth reimagine dancefloor classics. Gemma and Callan advanced to the Showdown, while Meg’s journey came to an end.
After breaking the rules in Battles to score an extra artist, Team Melanie C’s rare four-way Knockout saw Matthias Gault, Cassie Henderson, Euan Hart and Lilli Vitagliano take on Glastonbury headliner hits, with Cassie and Euan impressing while Matthias and Lilli fell behind.
At the Showdown, Callan delivered We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off by Jermaine Stewart, while Gemma poured her heart into When The Party’s Over by Billie Eilish. But it was Cassie’s stirring Somewhere Only We Know by Keane and Euan’s electric Don’t You Want Me by The Human League that sealed their places in the Semi-Final.
Team Richard’s Showdown saw Knockout winners Bella Parnell, Joseph Vuicakau, Chris Cobb and Rose Carleo rise to the challenge with powerhouse performances of I Put A Spell On You by Nina Simone, Let’s Stay Together by Al Green, The Flame by Cheap Trick and All Fired Up by Pat Benatar.
In the end, Bella and Joseph triumphed, with Chris and Rose exiting the competition.
Eliminated tonight were Meg Drummond, Lilli Vitagliano, Matthias Gault, Callan James and Gemma Hollingsworth from Team Melanie C; and Bianka Jakovljevic, Jakamo Sharpe, Chris Cobb and Rose Carleo from Team Richard.

Team Kate and Team Ronan find their Semi-Finalists
Tonight on Seven and 7plus, emotions ran high as Kate Miller-Heidke and Ronan Keating’s top six artists competed for a spot in The Voice Semi-Final during the toughest stage of the competition so far: The Knockouts.
Grouped in trios to compete in two Knockouts per team, the artists performed solo songs centred around a theme, with only two winners from each progressing. The victorious artists then faced off in a sudden-death Showdown, performing a song of their choice to secure one of the two coveted Semi-Final spots per team.
On Team Kate, young guns Alyssa Delpopolo, Sienna Langenheim, Charlie O’Derry and James Van Cooper triumphed in their Knockouts. In the Showdown, they delivered show-stopping performances of Hopelessly Devoted by Olivia Newton-John, Angles Like You by Miley Cyrus, You Are The Reason by Callum Scott and Takes Me Back by Noiseworks.
Alyssa and Sienna clinched the spots in the Semi-Final, while Charlie and James were sent home.
Over on Team Ronan, the first Knockout saw soul singers Cle Morgan, Ellaphon Ta and Mitchell Dormer deliver standout performances, leaving Ronan torn: “I can’t choose. I don’t know how I’d choose two.” In a surprise move, he advanced all three to the Showdown, leaving just one spot open.
From Team Ronan’s second Knockout, Milly Monk joined the Showdown lineup alongside Cle, Ellaphon and Mitchell. In the end, Cle and Ellaphon secured Semi-Final spots with moving renditions of Giant by Calvin Harris and Rag’n’Bone Man, and I Can’t Make You Love Me by Bonnie Raitt.
Tonight’s eliminated artists included Amber Scates, Charlie O’Derry, James Van Cooper and Jayd Luna from Team Kate, and Hunter Black, Milly Monk, Mitchell Dormer and Tiffney Reynolds from Team Ronan.

Cassie and Bella make it to The Voice Grand Final
Tonight on The Voice on Seven and 7plus, an electrifying showdown saw two phenomenal artists claim their place in the Grand Final.
Cassie Henderson from Team Melanie C and Bella Parnell from Team Richard became the first two singers who will go head-to-head for The Voice 2025 crown. The other two will be revealed next Sunday.
Tonight, superstar coach Ronan Keating also took to the stage for a special performance of his debut solo single When You Say Nothing At All .
Melanie C hailed Cassie as a “superstar” following her stunning performance of Lorde’s Green Light, saying: “You always deliver. You’ve never let me down. And I’ve just loved watching you grow and really own who you are as an artist.”
Cassie became Melanie’s pick for the Grand Final, while Euan Hart bowed out after a spirited performance of Eric Carmen’s Hungry Eyes.
Bella’s breathtaking rendition of Adele’s Skyfall secured her a Grand Final spot as Richard said: “That song is such an Adele song until now, because you made that song into something that sounds like you wrote it. You absolutely accomplished everything I wanted from that performance.”
Melanie C called Bella’s journey “one of the most incredible” on the show, noting that she had never performed in front of an audience before her The Voice audition, while Kate Miller-Heidke added: “I’m in awe.”
Departing artist from Team Richard, Joseph Vuicakau, closed his The Voice journey with a powerful take on George Michael’s Freedom ’90.
