The Voice

Since TVNZ is airing the show a few weeks after Australia (this week is blind auditions 7 and 8), I wonder if the New Zealand Herald is spoiling the results.

I agree it seemed fake. I tried searching for some of the more unique comments shown, eg saying his voice could help a nation heal, and the first one that was written in poor English and full of emojis, found nothing, though they could be private accounts or since deleted.

It was obvious he was going to be a grand finalist, he appears in every ad break, sometimes twice.

Jaedyn was in the studio on TVNZ Breakfast today, talking to host Daniel Faitaua about her journey on the show. Daniel introduced her as a grand finalist and confessed that his station was far behind in showing the episodes. Jaedyn also paid tribute to her fellow Maoris Letitia and Jaydin who reached the semi finals, and Roland who lost in the showdown.

Jaedyn later posted the interview clip on her Instagram.

Who will be The Voice 2024 champion?

The spectacular Grand Finale is on the way this Sunday

The Voice Grand Finale is here. Kicking off, 7.00pm Sunday on Channel 7 and 7plus, the remarkable finalists will take to Australia’s biggest stage in a bid to secure a life-changing dream.

From over 70 talented artists in The Blind Auditions, four phenomenal voices have made it through The Battles, The Knockouts and a spine-tingling Semi-Final to compete for Grand Finale glory: Annie Jones from Team Adam, Jaedyn Randell from Team Kate, Reuben De Melo from Team LeAnn, and SKŸE from Team Guy.

The superstar coaches have plenty to say about their finalists.

Adam declares: “Annie, you get up there and something really magical happens. You take the energy in the room, and you make magic with it.” Annie admits: “Being the youngest artist is crazy. I am so grateful that I’m here right now.”

Kate says: “Jaedyn, you are an incredible singer. I love your voice. I want to just dive into it, live there forever.” Jaedyn added: “I’m so grateful. I’m so excited for us to continue to work together.”

LeAnn shares: ‘Reuben, you are the epitome of an artist. You really have such soul. I’m blown away every time you walk on stage.”

“A couple of months ago, I wouldn’t even have thought I’d be here. I’m pretty stoked,” Reuben adds.

Guy says: “SKŸE, there’s something special, something unique, something magical and that’s been really exciting for me as a coach.” SKŸE responds: “Thank you for betting on me, for taking a chance on me.”

The final four artists will take to The Voice stage for a dazzling duet with their coach, and a spectacular solo performance in a bid for Australia’s vote.

Voting is now open for the nation to decide who will be crowned The Voice 2024, taking home $100,000 prize money plus a money-can’t-buy music masterclass and industry recording development package.

Reuben has won The Voice.
(Unblurred again now because the show has now concluded for 2024)

We don’t normally post the winners of these types of shows in here so soon after the announcement without at least covering it up with the spoiler function.

I guess you shouldn’t really come in here anyway on finale day but still.

Congrats to the winner but the relentless hateful, transphobic coments week after week about Skye (even though Skye is not trans) by people, especially on FB, have really soured this season for me.

Done, thanks for that. It worked.

The Voice 2024 winner crowned

Australia chooses Reuben De Melo as The Voice champion

Australia has crowned FIFO worker and father-of-three Reuben De Melo winner of The Voice 2024.

The 32-year-old soulful performer from Perth was taken aback when host Sonia Kruger announced the life-changing result.

Reuben exclaimed: “I never thought I’d get this far, this is crazy.”

Thrilled, his coach LeAnn Rimes said: “I’m so proud. You deserve every bit of this moment and I’m so honoured that I could be on this journey with you. You are incredible.”

Alongside the coveted title, Reuben won $100,000 in prize money plus a money-can’t-buy music masterclass and industry recording development package.

From his first Blind Audition, Reuben captivated Australian audiences with his soulful voice, impressing superstar coaches Adam Lambert, Kate-Miller Heidke, LeAnn Rimes and Guy Sebastian.

Eager to have him on her team, LeAnn used her Ultimate Block, stating: “I knew as soon as he opened his mouth, and I heard him sing. There was just so much feeling there. There was no way I was letting any of the other coaches get to him before I did.”

In a breathtaking final solo performance of House Of The Rising Sun by The Animals, Rueben left all four coaches in awe, with Kate praising it as “exceptional”.

LeAnn added: “I can’t stop smiling. You just gave it your all. That was just insane.”

LeAnn also joined Reuben for a heartfelt duet of Fix You by Coldplay.

Fellow Grand Finalists Annie Jones, Jaedyn Randell and SKŸE soared with show-stopping performances across the series.

Seven are pretty good with that, making sure they stick to the EPG time wise.

In general, 9 and 10 are more likely to stick to the EPG times these days too, but they used to be quite bad on running over time when reality TV first started.

I was a bit surprised that Reuben received more public votes and therefore won this season. I thought it would be either Jaedyn or Skye. Having said that, Reuben and Skye were two of the most consistent contestants of the season.

The grand final delivered once again, some of the sets had to be seen to be believed.

Edit: when Peter Ford said on 3AW breakfast today that four endings were recorded on the night so that each contestant got their taste of glory, co-host Russel Howcroft twice grasped and said “oh no”.

Surely this can be done better.!!!

Just remember that the majority of comments on social posts (especially facebook) are an older demographic. The show also gets a big older audience, which is why I thought Skye wouldn’t win. That doesn’t excuse it but they would be less likely to vote for someone that is so different.

I’m surprised that this show still does well because I find it extremely fake and manufactured. I barely watched this season but tried the finale and really struggled with it. There’s too much focus on the judges and too many contestants whittled down quickly. I guess its made for entertainment rather than produce a successful artist. Also knowing that this was filmed months ago, you really notice that the winner announcement lacked any real emotion.

I had a feeling that either Reuben or Skye were going to win it due to the high focus on them throughout the show.

I agree with the fakeness of tvis show. Some contestants were shown in high rotation, with whole songs shown, to endless rehearsals shown and many interviews and backstories shown on air. While other conterstants were bary shown. During the battles and early rounds

And way too much emphasis on the judges.

That’s the change 7 made because after the blinds, ratings declined a lot on 9 because of the many rounds. So 7 goes through the contestants very quickly.
