The Voice

How the grand final was reported in Perth:

To the detriment of the contestants ability to have any sort of success post show.

Did they ever? How may contestants from The Voice have gone on to success as a result of being on the show?

The Voice strikes a chord with Australia

Hit entertainment show’s 2024 season reaches 10.6 million

The Seven Network’s hit entertainment series The Voice turned up the volume last night, with the Grand Finale reaching 2.31 million Australians across Seven and 7plus.

The series’ thrilling conclusion, which saw Reuben De Melo take the crown after belting out The Animals’ classic The House Of The Rising Sun, had a national total TV audience of 1.08 million.
On 7plus it captured 88,000 viewers, up 20% on last year.

Across its run, the 2024 season of The Voice reached 10.6 million Australians on Seven and 7plus. Its audience on 7plus this year was up 9%.

Seven Network’s Director of Content, Unscripted, Majella Hay, said: “With four superstar coaches in Guy Sebastian, LeAnn Rimes, Kate Miller-Heidke and Adam Lambert, a fantastic host in Sonia Kruger, and an amazing group of singers, this year’s season of The Voice hit all the right notes. A big congratulations to Reuben from everyone at Seven.

“The Voice is a firm favourite with viewers year in, year out and it will be back in 2025 – along with our other successful 7.30pm entertainment shows including Farmer Wants A Wife, Australian Idol, My Kitchen Rules, Dancing With The Stars, The 1% Club, Better Homes and Gardens, and more.”

Seven National Television Sales Director, Katie Finney, said: “Reuben wasn’t the only winner from The Voice in 2024. Our sponsors including Woolworths, Seek, Afterpay, Open Universities Australia, Mondelez, Google and Chemist Warehouse connected with high value audiences at scale across all screens with high impact integrated assets engaging with 10.6 million Australians across the 11-week series.”

I can only think of Karise Eden, the first ever winner, having a #1 album post show which eventually went double platinum. She also held 4 of the top 10 spots on the singles chart, the first artist since The Beatles to achieve the feat. Her 2nd album also went top 5.

The only contestant I know that has actually made a career out of it is Celia Pavey (aka Vera Blue) and she had to get a stage name in order to do so.

Yeah, definitely much harder now as the novelty of reality TV singers has worn off.

Much easier for the likes of Shannon Noll and Guy Sebastian back then (from Australian Idol), but had they been contestants in The Voice 2024, they probably wouldn’t have gone on to be stars either.

Reuben’s wife Olivia posted a video of the winning moment from their viewing party in Perth last night. Looks like they were watching a live feed from Sydney because it was still broad daylight outside.

Jaedyn and Annie also posted their thanks.

The only report I can find so far from NZ media, concentrated on Jaedyn’s performances in last night’s final.

So I’m guessing Keith will be back?
Is that why he featured recently?

4 years on x factor and 6 years on the voice - Guy has done alright out of being a reality tv judge.

A bit like his music career coming off Idol. Kind of ironic.

It has been reported that Kate Miller-Heidke and Adam Lambert could follow Guy Sebastian and quit the show, with LeAnn Rimes staying.

That surprises me. I read somewhere else that this was just a rehearsal for her to appear as a judge on British singing show.

Many media outlets mentioned Robbie Dolan as a contestant of The Voice in 2022 after he rode Knight’s Choice to win the Melbourne Cup yesterday.

On Nova 100’s Jase and Lauren this morning, Ronan Keating let it slip that he had asked Robbie to join him on the stage to perform at the Oaks Day ladies lunch at Crown Casino later today.

Guy Sebastian on his decision to quit The Voice: ‘Right now it is a bit too safe’

“I think I’ve been too comfortable … I’ve done it because it is comfortable,” Sebastian told The Daily Telegraph of remaining on the reality singing show for so long.

“It is great for my family life and keeping me at home. I’m always busy and I’ve always got something in the calendar that is just sort of stopping me from jumping in with both feet and I think it boils down to this desire to be uncomfortable again.”

While viewers see much less, production on The Voice goes for roughly six months of the year.

“I want to pour myself into it but I can only ever really pour myself into my music and touring and my art these days in spurts, and it is a juggle of fatherhood, being a husband, being a musician, being on TV,” Sebastian explained.

I wonder if the next Aussie season will adopt the Coach Replay button which was added to the latest season of the US version
