Wow another great episode tonight. Finally a Traitor gone and some very interesting gameplay.
I reckon there was no murder tonight cause it was obvious they would choose that gay guy who was gunning for Angus as revenge from the other 3 so easy kill.
Our First Traitor Exposed
Murdered: Justine
Banished: Angus (Traitor)
The silver prize is starting to grow and so is the heat in Traitors Tower.
One seat was left after everyone arrived at breakfast, with Justine nowhere to be seen – meaning she was the unlucky Faithful to be murdered overnight. The table was filled with uncertainties, with Matt bringing the tension while trying to save himself from the doubters.
It was then on to the day’s challenge, which was worth the weight, with 15 bars of silver up for grabs at a country manor. To win the silver, the contestants were split into three groups, and had 20 minutes to balance three scales with sculptures from around the grounds. After group two struggled, group three ran out of time, so only $20,000 was added to the prize pool, bringing it to a total of $68,000.
At the Banishment Ceremony, two names were on everyone’s minds – Teresa and Angus. Fiona and Mark pleaded their case about the inconsistencies surrounding Angus, especially around the Shield Challenge where he dunked Nigel under the water. When Nigel was asked about the moment, he threw Angus under the bus and sealed his fate. Angus was voted out and revealed as a Traitor, and the Faithfuls were elated. Two of his votes came from fellow Traitors, Marielle and Nigel.
In Traitors Tower, Claire was frustrated at not being across the other two’s plans, as she now feels she is in the crosshairs. Before the Traitors could decide who to strategically murder, a note was slipped under the door. There was to be no murder that night, instead, the Traitors were to select three people to participate in a gamble for silver the next day.
Finally a traitor is gone.
I also notice that someone voted to banish Claire in today’s episode. Keep an eye out for that one.
Revenge? Angus is out because 2 of the 3 traitors voted him out. I would not trust Marielle as far as I could throw her, Nigel and Claire would be smart to get her out as soon as possible or she will stab them in the back like she did Angus.
But from the others players perspective they don’t know who the other 3 are and it would make sense to kill him off
The preview for the next episode might have given away the outcome of the gamble, with a scene from the banishment room.
I watched two episodes this week and it was a struggle. Some weird hybrid of The Mole & Survivor.
It was so incredibly boring. Lots of standing or sitting around talking, the strategizing seemed to revolve mainly around one conversation and the challenges were very basic and not at all compelling.
The trapdoor challenge sounded great on paper but the execution was pretty boring.
The swim for immunity where half the cast didn’t bother wasn’t very enjoyable to watch.
The casting seemed pretty unique compared to other Australian reality shows, lots of older people and more everyday looking people which was great to see.
Rodger hosting was okay I guess. I know he’s playing a character but the show was already pretty boring and staid without his affected hosting.
After watching I can see why people aren’t very invested.
So what happens if they vote out all the traitors? Who do they decide wins then?
This is how it worked in the original Dutch version:
In the first season of the show, the contestants played a game to decide the winner of the silver bars in the last episode. The two finalists independently wrote down either the word ‘Verraad’ (Betrayal) or ‘Trouw’ (Faithful). If both chose ‘Trouw’ then they split the prize but if one person chose ‘Verraad’ then that person won all the silver bars. If both chose ‘Verraad’ then the runner-up won all the silver bars. In the second season of the show, the team with the most players remaining played this game to decide the winner(s) of the silver bars.
I would say that the people who decided to watch it from the start are invested given there hasn’t much audience drop off from the premiere. The problem is that only a small audience tuned in for the first episode. I am hoping 10 give it a chance and renew it for a 2nd season, it’s much better than all the love/cooking shows inundating our screens these days.
As much as I know it’s part of the show, I’d hate to be a traitor on the receiving end of everyone cheering your demise!
I was referring to low start base figure but you’re right it clearly has found a loyal audience which seems to be sticking but the overnights and catch ups are pretty worrying.
It looks fairly cheap to produce so it may get another season but I honestly doubt it. There’s been no audience growth and it’s coming at a time where 10 seems like it’s gasping for air. I doubt they would want this as a reminder where their schedule has collapsed in a heap post The Hunted.
Agree that it’s better than yet another inane love type show though it really is reality tv oversaturation at this point (That’s coming from someone that has watched nearly all of them and liked a lot) and it isn’t surprising that the ratings are dwindling for nearly all types of reality tv.
Though even better than a reality show would be an Australian drama or more diversification in the schedule.
Though anyway I hope you enjoy the rest of the season.
Tonight is the best episode of the season so far.
The Faithful Track Another Traitor.
Banished: Claire (Traitor)
The Faithful nabbed themselves another Traitor in Claire tonight, but it was a fellow Traitor who was their main undoing.
It was tense in Traitors Towers following Angus’ banishment with Claire blindsided by Nigel and Marielle in the vote for Angus.
The awkwardness was interrupted by the news there would be no murder tonight. Instead, the remaining Traitors had to choose three players to take part in a little game of blackjack with Nigel, Mark and Lewis winning an extra $40k for their winning prize pool.
Ecstatic off the back of finally banishing their first Traitor, the Faithful were determined to make it a streak, looking to the next suspect in line – Claire, whose emotions were starting to show.
Nigel was conflicted about potentially losing another fellow Traitor, all the while, Marielle wilfully plotted to betray Claire. She believed this would solidify her position as a Faithful to the group.
In the challenge, it was off to the local airport to assemble giant safety markings on the side of an airstrip so planes carrying silver bars, could safely land. The contestants managed to get all three correct – a big day for the prize pool!
During Banishment, a nervous Claire discreetly asked Marielle if she was going to vote for her, to which Marielle responded “I don’t know”. Marielle did know, voting for Claire, and in turn helping to banish a second Traitor.
Can the Faithfuls make it three from three? Find out when The Traitors continues Sunday night at 7.30pm on 10 and 10 Play.
Has the show ever explained what the motive is to vote out the traitors? Seems like in the end it’s an individual game and they should be voting out people that are threats to their game regardless of whether they are traitor or faithful. The faithfuls are in just as much risk of being murdered whether there are 4 traitors still in the game or 1.
Another banishment based on something that happened on day 1. They really need to give the contestants something to work with if there is going to be another season.
So like ‘Split or Steal’?
I reckon they will murder Mark and recruit Theresa therefore making the psychic girls prediction true.
Basically
I believe if a traitor gets to the finale, they automatically get the entire prize money.
