The Traitors

Who’s airing it then?

When it comes to recycling, look no further than a particular red network…

Although I’d like to see it on the other (ala dotty) network.

This doesn’t surprise me at all given how well it’s done in the UK and US. 10 completely stuffed it up premiering season one when a season of the Block was already underway and right on the back of the Real Loveboat tanking.

I sincerely hope this is true. Best new format in the last few years. Please be true!

Has anyone seen this year’s season of the US version?

I’m watching it at the moment.

How f’d is the coffin episode? :joy:

No spoilers for the UK version … but they also do the challenge on that season and there is a certain element that season that makes the challenge more f’d up as you say.

There was a casting twist in that a mother/son pair were on the show together and one of the pair were in the coffin with the other throwing a rose in the coffin of his mum or her son (won’t spoil specifically who of the pair was where, you have to watch the show)

ALL of the challenges on the US show this season were copied from the recent UK one! I beg to differ to those who thought the Australian version wasn’t good, IMO it was the best with the best host. There’s just no accounting for viewer taste, after all a couple of million or so sit down and watch news at 6 every night.

I am aware that UK & US film back to back in the same location and use mostly the same challenges (UK typically runs a few eps longer and if there’s any unique challenges, it’s usually on UK)

But I think most of the challenges between all the versions are borrowed from one another - every first season of the English speaking Traitors show (US, UK, AUS, NZ, Canada) included the Laser Museum Heist challenge for example

Copied probably isn’t the right word. The US and UK versions are intentionally filmed back-to-back, so most of the ideas, concepts and tasks would be planned for both versions. So just because the UK version aired more episodes a week and finished quicker, doesn’t mean that the US copied them or that they are original UK ideas.

I don’t see a problem with it. Apart from Survivor US and The Amazing Race US, I don’t think many people watch other countries versions of reality shows so people are unlikely to notice or complain.

The Australian version has a following overseas, so 10 should do another season with Paramount+ but air it at 8:30 on FTA

Agreed, I used the wrong word. I watched both series back to back and it became a wee bit tedious seeing all the same challenges in the US series. Not everyone is going to do this. I know they are filmed in the same place so it probably saves costs to use the same challenges for both.

The Traitors has been named Format of the Year in this year’s Tracking the Giants report from global consultancy firm K7 Media, which was unveiled at MipTV in Cannes on the weekend.

The Daily Mail article on 10’s axing of Gladiators also suggests that the local version of The Traitors could go to Seven.

A well-placed production insider has disclosed that Channel Seven is now considering commissioning the Endemol Shine Australia series.

‘The show’s concept has potential, but it needs a fresh approach and a new platform,’ the insider said.

They’ve got a 50% chance of getting it right, given it’s not going back to 10

Couldn’t Foxtel/Binge take it?

I’d rather Netflix do it.

They do reality competition really well. The Circle and The Trust are brilliantly produced programs.

Anyone but 7!

Damn. Seven will mess it up although it will suit them as they like fully prerecording and there really isn’t a live element like idol and big brother so maybe it will be ok.
