The Traitors

Just get BBC to do it with Claudia Winkleman as host and use aussie expats in the UK. Then it will be perfect.

That idea sounds terrible.

Why though? It’s wildly popular in the UK. So why not copy it.

Because Australian viewers would be turned off by a British host. It would be divisive and that’sthe last thing you want.

Would they though?

They have MKR hosted by a french and an irish host. It’s not unusual. It’s not like viewers are against hearing a different accent.

And she is undoubtedly the best host the traitors franchise has.

That’s different. They are Australians with different heritage, who live in Australia. It’s not the accent that’s the problem. It’s bringing in someone from another country to do it.

Look ar Jeopardy hosted by Stephen Fry. It has flopped. Food Stars with Gordon Ramsay also failed to fire up. There are few shows that have succeeded with the British or American host.

I disagree. I think those shows fail because they are shit shows.

The Traitors is good… it was just on 10, so failed to find its audience.

My suggestion was primarily to film in the UK… you can fly in an Aussie host… but I dont see the problem with using Claudia. In fact she would guarantee to pull in all your loyal Traitors viewers, and ensure it gets a primetime run in the UK as well.

Claudia was be expensive though.

This is great news better keep Rodger as the host

The article is a little misleading about Seven. Endemol have shopped the show to 7 and 9 and to streaming outlets. It is on the market. Nobody has said yes or no yet.

1% club UK is doing well for 7, only just below what 1% AU did.

Again. That’s not the same. That’s a British version of the show screening in Australia. He is not hosting the Australian version.

Seven would just kill it off rather than revitalise it. Other than the less than inspiring location the product Ten put out was very good - the first series better than the second but both offered something. It’s just viewers didn’t come to it in the numbers they needed too.

If the overall ad market was a bit stronger perhaps Ten would have given a third series a shot, though it arguably only got it’s second series because the franchise was building momentum overseas. It would potentially be a good series for that January slot - certainly better counter programming to the Aus Open than Gladiators, but a slot which would limit it’s maximum potential audience too.

Wonder if 10 will get S02 for 10 play again or not bother since they aren’t moving ahead with another season of the Aus one?

Seem to be a few people who call Australia home amongst the cast.

I won’t spoil it as it’s too good to spoil but they really upped production on the second season and cast it really well - with great gameplay once again and some great moments throughout. Possibly my favourite season so far, though shame given what’s happening with Three it’s probably the last in NZ.

The US version will get two more seasons.

I wonder if Traitors US will ever consider casting everyday people again in future season? I’ve loved their reality style casts but the success of that has seemed to have started a trend of many US competition shows casting “all star” reality type lineups in the past year.

The ones I can think off the top of my head are The House of Villains, The GOAT (which are both full ex-reality star casts) and now Deal or No Deal island (which had Rob in the first season and now there are multiple reality contestants rumored to be on the second season). There are probably more too.

US Traitors has had amazing casts but you have to wonder if so many shows are now using contestants that it could become a saturated concept soon. We also know that Survivor is doing the big season 50 next year with returnee’s and many of the big names have already appeared across these shows.
