The Simpsons

and Seasons 1-9.

They’re not taking anything away.

For me it’s a nostalgia thing more than anything. It’s doesn’t feel the same to me watching these classic episodes in 16:9.

Not a bad season to be honest. Had about half n half of lows and highs.

More on aspect ratios

As we very well know here though, it wasn’t just streaming (which the article is about), but also broadcast (as seen by the copies provided to Seven).

Woo, I can watch in the remastered version of my wide screen TV . People didn’t complain when X Files was remastered in 16:9 and released in on Blue Ray. So people cry…

The difference is The Simpsons was not remastered. They just cut the top and bottom of the screen and cleaned it up a little.

Exactly it wasn’t remastered from film which is filmed in widescreen or greater, XFiles, Seinfeld etc were all shot on film which allows them to be remastered into HD and widescreen. The only issue is on shows like Friends on Malcolm in the Middle where you can sometimes see stuff like edges of sets which you normally wouldn’t have seen.

As I’ve written before, this cartoon should have had a natural end when The Tracey Ullmann Show finished.

How many more changes will the show go through?

Who knows what wacky adventures they’ll have between now and the time the show becomes unprofitable?

Just end the damn show already!
Its been going on for FAR too long!

I wouldnt be surprised if the next season is the last on Fox - they might move to Disney+ or decide to finally end it (maybe with a final movie)

Well there’s been no word yet on Season 33.

This is getting out of hand.

I suppose Apu’s new voice actor will be an Indian. And what about Bart?

Bart is not an Indian. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Dr Hibbert, Bumblebee Man, Mr Luigi (the Pizza guy), Groundskeeper Willie - what will happen to them? The actors portraying them aren’t that race either. Reverend Lovejoy - will he be played by an actual priest also?

They’re not different races. They are different ethnicities. Chances are they won’t feature those characters any more, like Apu has been missing for the last couple of seasons, except for scenes where he is seen but not heard.

So instead of Harry Shearer and Hank Azaria voicing over 200 characters between them, they’re going to have to hire a different voice actor for characters of every single ethnicity they want to use?

A voice actor of Austrian heritage for Rainier Wolfcastle, Chinese actor for Cookie Kwan etc…

I bet the PC movement won’t be happy until all 30 years of existing episodes are revoiced as well.

Or maybe they have learnt something from this and in future won’t take the piss with ethnic stereotypes. Maybe they will be smarter with their depictions of diverse characters.
