The Real Housewives of Melbourne/Sydney

It sounds like they were casting for Sydney and Gold Coast last year but ended up going with Sydney.

Apparently no reunion this season, must be outside the budget.

Angie Simpson, who is currently in The Amazing Race Australia with daughter Alli Simpson, has said in a TV Week interview that she was approached to appear in The Real Housewives of the Gold Coast. Is this version still in development?

I understand both Sydney & Gold Coast were cast at the same time with the intention of only one being commissioned for this year.

Gold Coast is still a possibility in the future, but no plans in the short term.

FFS. The best part of the show. Hardly any point watching the rest.

This show is so fake! Watched The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills followed by this yesterday and the difference in the two is incredible. The Sydney one is so scripted! Off course Krissy was going to turn up and who would wear a real fur to a day out working with animals unless they were completely stupid. Apart from the ethical question the choice of clothing is absurd. All the fake drama is weird. At least the Melbourne Housewives had characters and they didn’t all look the same. I will keep watching out of curiosity but if there is another scene where the dialogue is “look at you, no look at you”, I may have to tune out!

I think you’ll find they’re both fake and scripted. I’d say the Beverly Hills one has a lot more writers and producers who are able to make the fakeness more real.

You’re also comparing a show in it’s 13th season to one which is in its 2nd and has returned with a refreshed cast after a long break.

Also big difference in quality from US to AU in terms of budget, production quality, resources etc as Jbar said, which is really evident.

Don’t disagree that the show isn’t great, but take it for what it is?

Last night I was starting to get Andrea Moss vibes from Victoria (and that is not a good thing). The way she made this dramatic OTT speech about Kate at the fire pit just felt like how Andrea was to Gina in the first season. I really can’t stand her.

The recent episode of Beverely Hills mostly focused on the individual housewives and their home/life backstories, which is generally interesting enough without needing to add in fakeness or drama all the time. The big difference is that the US versions film significantly more content than the Aussie versions, so the editing feels a lot tighter. They can also drop a lot of uninteresting content and have the show move at a faster pace. Whereas Sydney feels a lot more structured and forced.

Yup the whole Victoria saga was ridiculous and overplayed for the camera, nothing wrong in Kate asking her to remove just the fur part of her collar.

Making a mountain out of a mole hill there, and not even the right type of drama.

See, I’m the opposite. I can’t stand Kate. What’s it to her what anyone wears? It’s Victoria who would look bad not her. Not a Kate fan at all and haven’t been since epjsode one.

Yep the way that she came to dinner with a speech ready to go was so over the top. Even the way she sat there and refused to eat the food (because it didn’t have meat) was just ridiculous. Not to mention then making it something it wasn’t with Terry and their “10 years of friendship” and then storming out on the victim card. Everything just reminded me of Andrea Moss in RHOM.

Well it does reflect on Kate given that she was taking the group there. It’s not like she outright demanded that she removed it. She brought it up on conversation and Victoria took it off. It should have ended there and then.

Couldn’t agree with all of this more.

Nothing at all wrong with Kate suggesting to Victoria in the car that it was inappropriate for her to wear it in this instance, the fact it was easily removed and she could still wear the vest as intended makes it laughable.

Also the fact that the majority of ladies agreed, especially Terry who has been friends with her for some time shows that it was just common courtesy and for the most part common sense.

I wasn’t a fan of Nicole suggesting in hindsight that Kate could have sent a text to all the girls in advance, essentially to preempt any of them would wear fur in the outset, was helpful or practical advice.

Not surprised Chrissy was fairly impartial and then settled more on Victoria’s side in support so she didn’t get on her bad side, she’s perfect casting for this show but I get the impression she has some questionable morals or entitled beliefs maybe.

I wanted to come here to dispute this. But you’re right. She’s being a bit of a dickhead. A lot of a dickhead actually.

Meantime, man I love Caroline.

I called it from episode one with Kate. She’s a bit crazy. Her behaviour at the restaurant towards both Victoria and Chrissy was absolutely awful. As Chrissy said, who does she think she is?

I love Caroline too. She just doesn’t give a rats about anything. She’s great!

Yeh it’s fine to have your passion. And Victoria went a bit OTT to try and make things right, but Kate’s attitude after that is not ok.

I’m just loving the drama. This season has finally found its groove.

My favourite quote of the episode was Krissy to Kate at the end: “WHO ARE YOU!?” :joy:

Yeah absolutely not a great look for Kate, definitely not her finest moment - she’s clearly passionate and not handling that particular situation well.

I think too, if that was me and I had Chrissy there piping up then I’d probably lose my cool a bit too as she would rub me the wrong way with her holier than thou attitude.

Easy for me to see how Kate could think Victoria’s efforts seem disingenuous and completely at odds with her prior stance, if she was so genuine about what she was doing - she could have picked up the phone again and told Kate of her plans prior to announcing it?

Victoria does have this smarmy attitude too which is both endearing as a successful woman and socialite, but would absolutely put me off her too.

The show definitely seems to be finding its groove however, can’t believe we’re up to E06 already, a real shame there will be no reunion.

Sorry to be that guy, but *Krissy.
