The Real Housewives of Melbourne/Sydney

With Joel Creasy being announced as the host of the “official” podcast, hopefully we get a host for the reunion special who is a little more invested.

Tried to watch this last night. Turned it off half way through.

It’s very scripted, and far more docu-soap the the international versions.

The pick up shots of each group walking through Hyde Park to lunch in The QVB gave the impression they are likely only working with one crew.

Yeh the scripting is annoying. Very evident in Melbourne too. Cheshire is also another that is like this.

The episode did feel a little bit tacky and a lot of it felt very forced. I’m hoping it was just because it was the first episode so it was mostly full of intros.

I was getting tired of the “look at me and my money” angle that they went with a few of the housewives. I know this is common on The Real Housewives but only 2-3 of the women felt really interesting and genuine. The ones I liked were Kate and Caroline as they seem interesting but otherwise some of the others felt very similar and forgettable. Also in regards to Krissy, I can’t remember her being as super annoying on her original season as she was in this opening episode. She just comes across as very unlikeable, loud and annoying.

Also found it very forced and contrived, bit of a let down as a start really.

Isn’t it funny how we perceive people in reality shows. I was the complete opposite, didn’t like Caroline and thought Kate was trying too hard. The porn star “affair” was such a beatup! I quite liked Krissy and I think she’ll stir things up. All in all I found it very overdone and annoying. As it was only episode 1 I will give it a chance to see if it settles down.

The reason that I like them is probably the exact reason why you dislike them. I mostly liked Caroline and Kate because they look like they will be fun and entertaining. They stood out from the other newbies and don’t seem to care as much what others think, so will probably be the ones that keep it interesting. Krissy is very loud and stands out from the others too but I just find her annoying.

I agree it was a little forced, Terry Biviano was the most painful.

I watch for the real estate and cars etc, so I enjoy the look at my money aspect.

I think Kate & Caroline have a high likability factor, they are just not really what I enjoy in housewives. Give me the absurdity/stupidity of the Eastern Suburbs any day.

I think the difference with the US versions compared to the ROW, is that they don’t need to advertise their wealth. They are just wealthy and its known. The international versions focus so heavily on that.

Kate gives me a vibe that she doesn’t take crap from anyone, and I like that. Her confessional about the Krissy/Caroline incident cracked me up haha

She sounded like Prue and Trude from Kath and Kim it was weird.

Kate, Krissy and Sally will appear at a Q&A session and signing at Tumbalong Park Stage tomorrow (October 17) from 7pm local time, as part of inaugural SXSW Sydney Festival.

Join Sydney Confidential’s Jonathon Moran in conversation with three of the fabulous and formidable women of the show – Dr Kate Adams, Krissy Marsh and Sally Obermeder as they share what’s in store in this brand new series full of extravagant parties and lavish lifestyles as the Housewives navigate the complexities of their friendships and personal lives.

Episode 2 was much better than the first. Lots of jabs at one another at that dinner and they are definitely focusing on the Kate vs Krissy angle. Kate is the standout on this cast for me.

Agreed.

Quite enjoy Kate too, this was my favorite line from her tonight:

Him: “I’m also into breath work…”
Her: “What the fuck is that?”

:rofl::rofl:

Kate mocking Krissy’s phone call had me

Still not a Kate fan. Her and Caroline are my least favourites, however I think most of these women are “try hards”. The “drama” IMO is manufactured. The cast is nowhere as diverse as the Melbourne cast for each series was. So many of these women look like each other. Maybe that’s why Kate, Caroline and Krissy stand out as they at least look a little different.

Janet seems to have let slip that she caught up with the “girls” from the “Gold Goast” series in an Instagram post. She has said she’s not sure if it’s still going ahead, but they are all lovely….

With so much footage on a devate about parenting at the table… you wonder how much content they’ve actually got in the season. I think it is pretty weak so far.
