For the Debbie Downers, PJ does have experience presenting, having previously done stories for Sydney Weekender. He’s also has his degree in journalism, and is an accomplished performer and actor. I’m sure live TV is new though and they mitigated his inexperience in news by having Sally read all the updates.
Well Tristan is Irish…
Boom…tish.
The studio is dreadfully dark too. Black blinds??? God it’s a morning show. Let some of the overhead natural light in and open up to the street and it would vastly improve the feel of the show.
It was grey and dreary outside anyway.
So? Watch This Morning from ITV to see how to light and dress a set for morning television. Australia doesn’t have a clue.
Perhaps there was protest action our something else going on that wasn’t suitable to air? Given they were open on Sunrise (as far as I know) it was clearly a deliberate choice to put the blinds down.
I think they’ve always kept the black blinds down on TMS since the graphics relaunch after Tokyo.
Makes me wonder whether they’re wanting to “familiarise” viewers with a darker looking set if it’s going to be that way when they move to Eveleigh.
That could be it. Or it could be that some parts are pre-recorded.
A studio show with no windows doesn’t need to be dark, again This Morning on ITV is in a blackbox.
PJ Lane is hosting with Kylie again this Friday.
TMS looking like it was coming from the set of When Christmas Trees Attack as they got closer and closer to Kylie and Larry this morning. Ironically with an interview of a professional set decorator
OMG! Thats just over the top.
Sorry to bring up an oldish post but I remember that they have kept the blinds down for The Morning Show only for years and years now, at least earlier then 2016.
I thought I remember reading somewhere they have always had the blinds down for The Morning Show since the Sydney Siege at the Lindt Cafe in 2014.
Comment from Larry at the end of the show today:
“We love to be here live when our competitors start to take holidays.”
Rob Ovadia swapping the road for the studio today and reading the news updates on The Morning Show.
