Good to see TMS’ budget expanding, the trip to Melbourne and now a guest host.
That trip for Bert Newton’s funeral doesn’t really count.
It does, they don’t do interstate hosting or travel anymore. It was mentioned that they got allocated a budget for it

Ummm yes it does, they could have chose to stay in Sydney but they did an OB in Melbourne instead.

I agree that it does show an expanding of the budget, but I’m not sure that it would have been done just for TMS. I get the feeling that 7 would have gone all out regardless of the hosts. I suspect they would have sent Sunrise to Melbourne if the funeral was earlier, or maybe Michael Usher if it was later in the day.
It could have just been a choice that was made because TMS happened to be scheduled for that time period anyway.

They also could have done an extended Sunrise (like they do for emergencies) and scrapped TMS all together.

While I agree it’s not great to chuck people in the deep end like this, you do have to give other people a chance or you’ll never discover/develop new talent. Tristan was very green when he started and it’s taken a while but he is good these days.

Fair point. I actually like the idea of celebrities guest hosting these morning shows (like they used to do). I suppose that was one of the benefits of the old panel format on Studio 10 - have them on a few times as the 5th panellist whilst still having the regulars carrying the show. Then you’d see who shines before getting them to do more.
As for Tristan, I wouldn’t say he’s ‘good’, just (obviously) better than when he started.
In fairness, that Irish bloke has greatly improved.

They had him on 2 weeks ago during Bert Newtons funeral. I would say the producers of the Morning show were impressed with him.
Like others have said, its his first show. Hopefully he gets another opportunity.
