The Masked Singer

According to today’s Sunday Herald Sun, the show could return to Sydney next year. It was moved to Melbourne this year due to lack of studio space in the Harbour City.

I am taping the final two episodes tonight and binge watch them tomorrow along with episodes from the past three weeks.

I watched the finale and was impressed with the calibre of artists in the F3. I knew who they all were and a very big name winner!

The US version was not as enjoyable as ours. It lacks continuity with the different groups, it is over produced, over edited and the way that they go from 6 to the winner in two episodes is just too fast. Maybe just have a few less contestants to start with.

There were a lot of big names on the show though which was the positive. Now they are doing The Masked Dancer? I think they are risking killing this format with that.

I actually thought the contestant that came third was going to win. Although the best overall voice definitely took it out.

I have just watched the finale and the top 3 (winner LeAnn Rimes, runner-up Aloe Blacc and third-placed Nick Carter) were impressive and well known to us, as they had toured Australia at different times over the past 20 years. I thought they and Seahorse (Tori Kelly) were the top performers of the season. The surprise was Olympic snowboarding champion Chloe Kim as Jellyfish.

I thought 10 bought the rights to the US version given the celebrities who have appeared on the previous three seasons and are familiar to Australian viewers. As the contestants were unmasked one by one, many of us were puzzled with their identities. Who is Dr Elvis Francois? Clint Black? Tori Kelly? It wasn’t until the semi-finals when Taylor Dayne was eliminated then we know who that artist is. No wonder local ratings kep falling, so much so the finale was shown at around 1am this morning.

Totally agree. 16 contestants were just too many. I think they were divided into groups to keep the episode length within the one hour limit. Next season it needs to be reduced to just 12.

spoiler tag surely?

Masked Singer makes sense since you have the celebrities’ voice along with the clues. Masked Dancer just has celebrities dancing and other than the clues the guessing will make absolutely no sense. The premise just doesn’t make sense.

If something has aired on Australian tv we surely don’t need to use spoiler tags. You read at your own risk.

Yep it just looks silly.

I’m expecting Courtney Act to be part of the next season. She is currently in hotel quarantine and I’m assuming filming will commence soon.

There are rumours Drag Race Aus/NZ will begin shooting soon… could also be for that?

Aren’t they filming that in New Zealand though?

That is the rumour… she also wasn’t going to fly out here till the 19th according to her Insta story. Who knows.

She may just be here to see family/friends & has shows in QLD in March. TMS would make sense though, the show has a quick turn around. Would Shane be himself under the mask, or in full drag? :stuck_out_tongue:

10 is not giving up on the US version of the show.

They paid for it so might as well show it somewhere. Shouldn’t waste their money next year.

Ten should produce the Masked Dancer Australia

That looks really awful. How does it rate?

What about the Masked Comedian? Masked Newsreader? Masked Politician?
