The Masked Singer

No thanks.

1st episode had alright ratings in the US but the 2nd episode dropped 50%. It’s also one of the worst reviewed shows on IMDB with only a 1.8/10.

The Australian has confirmed production of The Masked Singer will move to Sydney this year because the network and production company fear the Victoria government’s lockdown policy could prove costly for them and there is greater certainty provided by Gladys’s policy of keeping the economy open as much as possible while managing outbreaks. Sydney based talent, Jackie O and Osher, were said to have spoken out against filming in Melbourne again after getting stuck there last year.

yes, please keep them up there.

Only if you have Dan prevent Dave Hughes from ever crossing the border into NSW again.

Doesn’t Dave Hughes permanently live in Sydney now, after he relocated for 2dayFM breakfast?

We don’t want them either.

I say we send them to North Korea. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nah he belongs there these days

There was an article from Nick Tabakoff’s Media Diary which will be published today saying ‘Dan Andrews is losing Melbourne’s TV’ or something (he talked about how many productions are going to Sydney)

Has Dave actually moved to Sydney though? I would be surprised if he did. I saw him a few weeks ago at a random comedy gig in Melbourne. It’s not uncommon these days that radio shows are hosted in studios across different states, a lot do it. Kyle and Jackie O even co-hosted together between Syd and LA for a good chunk of the year.

There was a stunt on this morning’s 2Day FM breakfast show that involved Erin Molan teaching Hughes to surf at South Maroubra SLSC but he hasn’t relocated permanently and his family is still based in Melbourne. His wife is on the 2021 teaching staff at a Melbourne primary school. He copped some criticism for being outspoken about the third Melbourne lockdown that saw him stuck there. I can’t see him uprooting his family unless the Sydney Breakfast radio gig works out. The show is awful by some accounts and there are claims they’ve resorted to faking open line calls to make it more entertaining. Not a good sign.

Looks like he’ll be spending plenty of time in Sydney with both his Ten shows now based there. Hope he has enough money to enter the Sydney property market in order to establish a base there. (sarcasm)

Apparently Kyle has been presenting his show from his luxury Port Douglas retreat in recent times.

I always think that the show’s move to Melbourne was temporary because Fox Studios was occupied by Marvel movies (it was reported on the weekend that all nine sound stages at the studio had been booked out until mid 2023). With additional spaces available e.g. ITV Studios in Moorebank it was a matter of time before The Masked Singer returned to Sydney.

A New Zealand version of The Masked Singer is coming to Three later this year.

UPDATE 9/5: the show premieres on Three tonight (May 9) and continues on Sunday and Monday nights.

Gordon Ramsay should be singing songs with a lot of swearing. I recommend Kevin Bloody Wilson.

In Less than 2 Hours, New Zealand’s own version of The Masked Singer with Rhys Darby, James Roque, Ladi6 & Sharyn Casey as Panelists, Hope we’ll see this version on 10play One Day.

But we only know Rhys Darby and likely do not know many if any of the singers. Not many, if any. Get it? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

But…
Ken Jeong is their “guessing panel”, and he isn’t a singer. The US version does have a lot of guest judges on the show. Some of the singers behind the masks aren’t singers themselves.

On our version, Dave Hughes and Urzila Carlson arent singers either (for our show)

And neither is Jackie O lol.
