Busy day for her, started at 9am presenting news updates on The Morning Show, 11:30 she did the Morning News, 2pm presented news updates on The Daily Edition and then the 4pm Sydney News. And now The Latest.

Tonight’s intro used the 3 screens behind Michael and showed the reporters one by one around the screens.
Also a new voiceover.
The last few nights they’ve also been using the middle screen behind Michael with the standard background on the left fading into vision of the current story on the right.

Tonight with Mel Doyle hosting.
They used the same intro style as last week with MUsher… no text on screen, upcoming reporters introduced around the 3 screens… and a voiceover.

What’s the point of it if she doesn’t even sit at it? Surely a desk like the ones they use for AFL on the ground would be better?

It’s actually growing on me but the light underneath should be white not red. When they use the white in the studio (like sunrise does sometimes) it looks much classier.

It looks ok in those one to one interview settings but as the main desk in the space, it gets lost.

Watching The Latest tonight and Mel Doyle is brilliant. Really knows how to connect with the viewer.
Hopefully Seven will be able to find a permanent role for her (that’s more than 1 day of work on The Latest) going forward.

Not the biggest fan, her voice sounds preachy sometimes, but can’t fault her for experience.
Definitely can’t go past Michael Usher who is just so smooth and likeable.

What we don’t get from Mel on The Latest is her personality. Sunday night allowed her to show personality when she was interviewing… sunrise obviously allowed her to do so.
Now she’s a late night new presenter - which arguably Ange Cox could do for a much cheaper price.
Mel needs something for sure - but The Latest isn’t it.
