The increasingly crowded streaming market

Since we have just had the launch of Max I had this thought If A&E were to set up a streaming service in Australia would it most likely play out? Its just that I don’t this they have one. Do they?

The current state of play with the big six studios in Hollywood:
Disney/20th Century Studios: Disney+
Universal: Binge, but some product are on Netflix, Prime and Stan
Warner: Max
Paramount: Paramount+
Sony: no proper streaming service, product is divided between Binge, Stan, Netflix and Prime
MGM: Prime (some are on the add-on MGM+), Warner-distributed MGM product is on Max. Some MGM titles are on Stan.

I think I might know a logo they could use :upside_down_face:

When on earth will seven enter the Paid streaming world?

I think the one to keep an eye on will be DAZN and what they do with Binge, if they strip it enough and want to offload the remains, hey presto, 7 could have a ready made option available to them.

Thank god for Game Pass in Australia

Had to squeeze it in there to see if someone would pick up on it :slightly_smiling_face:

You would think as they shut down Foxtel they’d want to keep binge

I suspect they won’t, although that becomes a maybe if someone partners with them. They seem to be burned from previous attempts to diversify.

They’ve gone all in on this “free to stream” concept around sports content - having a paid-for system (even if it doesn’t have sport) possibly undermines this mantra.

(I look forward to this aging like milk)

Headline (or teaser) interestingly makes no mention of the fact there’s a heftyish price increase too.

No mention of it in the entire article..

It’s just a regurtiation of the press release. Nothing new in there at all.
