Not one aimed at his head like a WWE chair?
They really just need a curved couch for guests and other panelists and then keep Erin or the host in a single chair, it still looks so awkward - but better without that ridiculous coffee table.
It was announced on Sports Sunday this morning that James Bracey will be hosting the Thursday night Footy Show when Erin leaves to have her baby. Assuming this means Sterlo will take the reins of the Sunday Footy Show.
THE FOOTY SHOW HITS THE ROAD IN MAY
Nine has announced The Footy Show will hit the road when regular host Erin Molan goes on maternity leave in mid-May.
Wide World of Sports host James Bracey will host the show from the ground after Thursday Night Football, while Parramatta legend Peter Sterling will fill in as host of the Sunday Footy Show.
Both changes will be in place from mid-May until Erin returns from maternity leave later in the year.
Erin says she’s excited about the next few weeks as she prepares to become a mum, "Sean and I are so excited to meet our baby. We can’t wait!“We just hope Bub is polite enough to come before or at least in between State of Origin matches!”
"We want to thank all the wonderful people who have sent through their best wishes and particularly those who have assured me ‘It won’t hurt a bit’… majority male!“I’m excited for this next phase and also looking forward to introducing the newest member of our family to everyone at Nine.”
Bracey, who anchors the Wide World of Sports coverage of the NRL, as well as Sports Sunday and 100% Footy, will take over The Footy Show on Thursday nights.
“Erin does such a fantastic job in her role as host, and I hope I can be a good bench player until she’s ready to return,” Bracey said.
Bracey said it was an honour to be selected to host the long-running program.
"The Footy Show has a rich history of success over its quarter of a century on the air.
“Erin does such a fantastic job in her role as host, and I hope I can add something off the bench until she’s fit and ready to return.”
With Molan also taking a break from Sunday Footy Show duties, rugby league great and show stalwart Peter Sterling will assume the mantle of host.
It’s a return to a familiar seat for Sterling, who hosted the program for over two decades, from 1993 to 2015.
Glad to hear that Peter Sterling is returning as host of The Sunday Footy Show. He was perfect in that role when he used to host it.
Good to see James Bracey hosting the Thursday Footy Show. He was good as host last year on The Sunday Version, and I think he is a good choice for this Thursday version.
Personally, I think Nine should just put the Thursday night NRL Footy Show (and the equally dire AFL version) out of it’s misery and axe the damn thing already!
With all due respect to James Bracey who does seem like decent enough on-air talent from the little I’ve seen of his work, I really don’t think yet another presenter change will be of any help to this struggling program in the ratings.
Could Paul Vautin reappear if he is rostered on for a Thursday night game, I wonder?
Can’t Erin just work up until her waters break?
How ridiculous! What do you suggest they do then? Keep Erin on while in labour? A presenter change was always going to happen. What they should have done is not put her in the role at all until she was back.
And get back to work the day after?
From memory, when they did the show from Melbourne a couple of weeks ago, Fatty had commentated on that game and didn’t appear on the show. Can’t see why a different host would change this, but here’s hoping he does!

Of course that’s not what I was suggesting.

That I agree with.
IIRC, the announcement that Erin Molan is expecting was made late last year so Nine would’ve known well before the start of this year’s football season that Erin would be going on leave part way through the year. IMO, they should’ve had James Bracey on from the start of the season and maybe introduce Erin as the new host of the show later in the year or next year after returning from leave!
What they should have done is not put her in the role at all until she was back.
Firstly that’s potentially discriminatory and therefore illegal.
Secondly, assuming that Erin is the best host (which is what Nine are working on) viewers are more likely to stick with a lesser offering for a short time knowing that she’s coming back. If a lesser offering was given at the start of this year, with no indication that things would get better, they are more likely to lose viewers and not get them back.
Can’t Erin just work up until her waters break?
Has an actual date of Erin’s last show been announced - I haven’t seen one. If they haven’t set one, they could be playing it by ear to decide when she’s actually going on leave.

They’d film that…don’t give them any ideas!
Erin has been rushed to hospital after having another fall in a supermarket this time. so im guessing she wont be hosting tonight’s show,
ERIN Molan has been rushed to hospital in an ambulance after suffering a fall in a shopping centre.
what the article failed to mention is that Molan will be on the Footy Show tonight, as well as hosting The Sunday Footy Show this Sunday! The Sunday show is her last show before she goes on maternity leave.
She said that during the Jonesey and Amanda WSFM Show this morning. She said she had a small fall and was taken to hospital for observation. She got the all clear.
So wait, Gus Gould has appeared on the panel of The NRL Footy Show. Have never seen him being a panelist on the show.
