The Daily Edition

They need every cent they can get.

The show itself seems to be a rehash of The Morning Show, which can be quite repetitive.

If they ever visit the road of creating new shows in the future (provided their debt is under control) they could always put Ryan and Sally at 7pm with a current affair show. Both of them are wasted on The Daily Edition.

When has this ever been said? I was always under the impression that advertorials were big profit drivers?

Obviously ad revenue is down across the board at the moment but you can’t just pull all of your programming off the air in response.

Clearly if they’re still on air, they are profitable. Otherwise it would have been axed alongside Sunday Night. I’m pretty sure Daily Edition shares production with Morning Show, so to that extent, its relativley inexpensive to put to air. The only extra salary would be Sally Obermeder’s.

Mr Allen estimates that each four minute infomercial costs an advertiser approximately $20,000.

The exact opposite is true. The advertorials are big money spinners and are the specific reason why The Daily Edition is still on the air.

That seems like quite a bizarre suggestion to me. There are many more personalities within 7 who would be more identifiable and bring in a larger audience than the hosts of TDE.

Which wouldn’t be costing them much.

If anything expect The Daily Edition to be expanded to insert more advertorials.
It isn’t that much of a stretch to see a future where Seven has live advertorial supported programming like TMS or Daily Edition from 9am - 4pm weekdays.

And with more people at home, I would imagine sales would be booming. Australia Post is having trouble keeping up with deliveries because people buying so much stuff and having delivered at home at the moment.

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised to see it run longer, but it’d mean bumping the UK chase.

Ideally you could have something like
9am TMS
12pm Midday News
1pm Daily Edition
3pm Chase UK

10 hours of consistent news programming

I’m assuming most of the audience at 12pm is stay-at-home mums and elderly. I’m sure most of that audience would flick over to Ellen on Nine or Dr Phil on 10 rather than watching more news.

TMS and TDE are hardly news. It’s entertainment, lifestyle and fluff.

Today’s edition began 15 minutes earlier at 1:45pm, following the Prime Minister’s National Press Club address.

Today’s edition started at 1:34pm AEST, following a repeat of House Rules, ahead of the PM’s update following the National Cabinet meeting.

TDE didn’t air in most states yesterday (June 8) with Seven showing highlights of the 2017 Queen’s Birthday AFL match between Melbourne and Collingwood.

It didnt air in Sydney either yesterday (Mon, June 8). Coastwatch Oz aired at 2.30pm instead, with the Midday movie finishing up at 2.30pm (Saving Mr Banks)

I thought the show didn’t air on Monday looking at the show’s twitter no tweets for Monday, plus it seems Ryan had the day off.

Where did it air yesterday?

If the show didn’t air in Sydney on Monday that meant it didn’t air anywhere else.

today’s show is scheduled to start later to allow the midday movie to finish- got interrupted by a update from the PM

Good decision by Seven. I’m sure there’s at least 1 person out there that would’ve preferred the movie get dumped and Daily Edition start early.
