The Daily Edition

Isn’t that just you?

Well I watched most of it, not bad.

I was watching and enjoying the movie. And was getting a little bit nervous with this interruption. The PM and then some other guy going on and on.

You’re a big fan of Restless Virgins?

It was decent for a Lifetime movie.

it certainly beats a 3hr version of The Daily Edition or that rumour of a Midday show

Probably a good thing, otherwise the Channel Seven switchboard probably would’ve crashed! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Not sure about everyone else, but from a purely content perspective I don’t really have any emotional attachment to either The Midday Movie (which probably should’ve been retired as a network tradition years ago) or The Daily Edition.

The PM apologised specifically for interrupting those watching the midday movie.

The show won’t be missed but shame about Sally and especially Ryan. Big losses for the network.

Looks like even the extra informercial dollars weren’t enough.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this the the genesis for the report a few days ago that The Morning Show was being cancelled. Both advertorial based daytime programs with male/female presenting teams on Seven. Someone at Woman’s Day got a hint of the story but not quite all of it.

They would be mad to axe The Morning Show anyway. That show is a consistent winner and would be a big cash cow with the advertorials.

TDE is quite obviously a clone without the same recognition and consistent ratings like TMS and is an easier target.

i agree . i would say some one said said one show thats on 7 with a female /male presenter is possibly getting axed . and in typical woman’s day fashion didnt get the whole thing and automaticly thought it was the morning show

@TV.Cynic how were the ratings in the last 6 months? Were they still number one in the timeslot?

I wonder if this means that TMS will pick up more infomercials now?

It’s very disappointing that Ryan is leaving the network,he was a very versatile presenter also used as a fill in on TMS, Sunrise, Seven News.

I wonder why Ryan couldn’t take Jim’s presenting duties.

Not really surprised that the show has been axed. Unfortunately, the 2pm slot for any station has been rating low for some time now.

Ryan Phelan left for good on Seven? Hasnt he filled in for News-reader over on The Morning Show, and/or The Morning News recently?

Ryan has presented the news updates on TMS since 2016 l think…

I know the show wasn’t good but sad for more jobs to go

Like the axings of so many other programs, I wouldn’t have been overly surprised to see “Axed: The Daily Edition” as a headline on TV Tonight before overly long but didn’t think we’d be discussing it just four days after rubbishing that story from Woman’s Day about The Morning Show being axed.

You’d think the chances of either Michelle Bishop or Matt Carmichael becoming the new Friday/Saturday night sports presenter of Seven News Sydney have sharply increased? Because with Jim Wilson off to 2GB (and probably appearances on Nine within time) and now Ryan Phelan leaving the network…

Of course I agree that both presenters are a loss to the network along with others who are about to lose their jobs. Content wise though, I won’t miss The Daily Edition in the same way I didn’t particularly mourn the quiet demise of Nine News Now.

Agreed. If Studio 10 can remain on the air, then one would think that The Morning Show would be relatively safe…for now at least.

Presenter wise, Kylie Gillies & Larry Emdur would be an even bigger loss to Seven since those two can be (and have been in the past) used on a wider variety of programming genres. While both Sally & Ryan are competent talent, their strengths are mainly in news/current affairs and sport respectively rather than mindless fluff like The Daily Edition.
