Yep… that desk has been used for many programs. It was first used back in 2013 for “This Week Live”.
Really enjoyed this. Tash is a natural for this format. Perhaps they can use her ongoing. I thought the entertainment girl was pretty good too but that content was always going to be easier to get a few laughs.
Titus was a real speed bump. I actually think he is pretty funny but his style and pace is too different to the rest of the show. And whoever dressed him like a grandpa should be shot.
Mel and Tim have amazing chemistry for a first episode. I wonder if working dog trialed other combos? I was sceptical of tim but think he did really well except for the pen and paper shuffling.
Working dog will tweak this but I think they are onto a winner

This is coming from the sports studio in Como, same that they do MotoGP, Teams on 10 from etc.
A lot of the leftover set in that studio is from Sochi 2014 such as the blue couch and table which is usually in there and as I mentioned earlier the desk is definitely from This Week Live, which Studio 10 have used when in Melbourne.
They’ve just put some Perspex panels over the set walls to somewhat cover the wavy panels which you can see behind them.
I was expecting the sport segment to be a bit of a car crash after reading the comments here but didn’t think it was that bad. Perhaps some first night nerves. He’s a well regarded broadcaster/writer/comedian. Leave him there and let him settle into it.

It is? I thought it was the Project studio as it has an audience.
The audience was actually studio crew, because the public could not attend due to the current COVID lockdown in Victoria.

Yeah it is, the back pieces of the set and screens are exactly the same as the sports studio - just with Perspex over some panels. I’d say they just added the seating for the studio, which isn’t hard to do.
The Project studio, still pretty small in itself, is much bigger than the studio they came from tonight.
The side camera angles, if they need another angle to switch to, change one out wider as a side two shot reaction angle, and use those two camera for one shots with hosts looking to camera if needed.
Same ending as HYBPA basically.
I reckon they could drop some of the contributors. The two of them could do sports clips, it’s effectively an enhanced version of “The Soup”, I think some of the guests are just unwieldy additions, Mel Tracina was good though.
I think they need the other presenters to interact with because it starts to be a bit monotonous if it’s just the two of them over the whole hour.
Maybe they need to tweak it a bit so other presenters aren’t following in segment three, four and five. Maybe have Entertainment in segment two, then back to the two of them, then Sport in segment four and Natasha does big events after that.

I was not expecting much. But this was absolutely fantastic! Congratulations to working dog and channel 10. Not sure how it will rate but I am a fan and will be watching again.
But on a side note - I don’t get the name cheap seats.

If you’re in the cheap seats, you’re observing from a distance.
Also hecklers at a comedy show for example are often in the “cheap seats” gives them a sense of bravado/confidence that there’s some distance between them and the show, so there’s less ramifications for taking pot shots.

It is interesting how Working Dog has not produced much content for 7 (A season of Thank God You’re Here , a season of Santo Sam and Eds Sports Fever and a season of Pictures of You) and and nothing for Ch 9.
Good to see something different on Ten . Will definitely give this a watch on catchup.
They dabbled with Seven but not surprisingly it wasn’t fruitful given the control they exert and 10 would allow for more freedom to working dog.
