The Cheap Seats

He’s been on a lot of shows before.

Titus O’Reily is a writer, presenter, performer and broadcaster known for capturing the trials and tribulations of being an obsessive sports fan.

The first-half of the show was great with Mel and Tim commenting on news stories, but it has really fallen off a cliff during the sports segment. Definitely room for improvement. Titus needs to be replaced.

I love Titus’ work on social media but that segment was really, really flat. Entertainment segment wasn’t great either.

Feels like the show was hitting its stride in the first few segments with just Mel and Tim, but adding extra people is really throwing off the balance.

Very positive reaction on social media as well. Though some have noticed “camera constantly cutting to the side shots”. The sport segment was a miss.

Agree, Titus’ Twitter is quite good, but the sports segment faltered.

It’ll be interesting to see if they use the same Entertainment, Sport presenter every week etc…

Good choice for a “live” cross.

This show is really, really good. It is so fast paced, it’s almost exhausting keeping up.
Very sharp show. Although I’m not at the Titus bit yet

Good on you ten. Hope people are watching and the show finds it’s feet. I will definitely be tuning in each week

Working Dog know what they’re doing. They’ll either dump those segments entirely and try something different, or give it another crack and fix what wasn’t working.

Sometimes it takes a few weeks to find the right groove, and persevering pays off.

Much enjoyed the segment with Tash Exelby.

Titus is awful, on everything. Hopefully they ditch him.

She got a good zinger on Tim. She’s a good sport.

The constant playing with the paper and pens and drawing is very annoying

Titus just seems like an odd fit to this show. Everything about it is so good so far but his segment sticks out like a sore thumb.

I saw that as well. No copyright notice either.
Will need to catch up on 10 Play (or hopefully an encore this Friday night) to see if anything has been missed.

Overall a solid and very funny first episode. I will tune in next week.

I think Tim and Mel have great chemistry (and clearly rehearsed with each other) but the guests just didn’t have the same rapport (maybe except Tash) and the jokes fell really flat as a result. Interesting to see what tweaks they make for week two.

Out of all the segments with other people joining Mel & Tim, Tash’s one was without a doubt the best one.

I really enjoyed the show. Like others, I felt the segments with the guests were flat and definitely need retooling if they’re to remain week-after-bit. However, the bits with just Mel & Tim were really strong - especially considering this is the debut episode. Will definitely be tuning in again next week.

Isn’t that the desk from “This Week Live” around 2013?

It’s to keep you engaged. One shot is boring. I agree that it was awfully executed as they never made eye-contact with their side-camera.

When Tim does that, intentionally or not, it comes across as him not being confident in the joke he’s landed. I’m still not sure he was the best choice to host.

True. It was a fine debut but I’m not sure there’s a need as a viewer to commit to watch both HYBPA and Cheap Seats every week. That’s a problem for 10.
