The Block

Didn’t like Ronnie and Georgia but to me Josh and Elyse were worse. Could not stand them at all and unfortunately, I loved Sticks and Wombat but the way Sticks went a couple of times turned me away from them too. Jason and Sarah, the least said about them, the better. Surprisingly, I think it was Clint and Hannah who were the most genuine and even the most happiest despite winning the least.

Executive producer Julian Cress has told the Herald Sun that filming for the Gatwick season should begin in February.

Wemt passed the other day and they have blocked off roads.

Filming began on the new season on Thursday (February 8) with former champion netballer Bianca Chatfield among the contestants.

The Block could be heading to Newcastle … or Scott Cam is expanding his property empire possibly buying the Wallsend fire station.

Renovation at The Gatwick in St Kilda is almost finished.

THE BLOCK TAKES ON ITS BIGGEST CHALLENGE YET

Five couples. One iconic building. The biggest construction in Block history.

What could possibly go wrong? Welcome to The Block 2018.

Mention “The Gatwick” to anyone living in Melbourne and chances are they’ll have an opinion. Starting her life as a grand hotel, she has recently fallen from grace. Eyesore, blight, dump are just some of the choice words that have been used to describe her. A perfect project for Australia’s biggest reality TV show. Enter The Block!
“I knew it was a fantastic, iconic building, and I knew it had so much potential, so I was very excited when I heard The Gatwick would be our next project,” says Scott Cam, who is returning to host the show for an incredible 14th season
The Gatwick is in the heart of one Australia’s most famous postcodes - St Kilda, host to famous landmarks such as Luna Park, the Palais Theatre, the cultural hub of Acland Street - and is just minutes away from the beach.
“This series brings us right back to where we started in Bondi in 2003,” says Executive Producer, Julian Cress.

“We filmed in summer, which gives it a flavour that hasn’t been seen on The Block for a very long time.”

The five eager new teams chosen from a record-breaking 45,000 entries are:
• Bianca (36) and Carla (35), netballing besties from Melbourne, VIC
• Kerrie (49) and Spence (47), married couple from the Barossa Valley, SA
• Sara (31) and Hayden (45), newlywed parents from The Shire, NSW
• Hans (37) and Courtney (33), loved-up couple from Perth, WA
• Norm (40) and Jess (33), engaged parents from the Sunshine Coast, QLD

Scott Cam is once again joined by co-host Shelley Craft, along with judges Neale Whitaker, Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer, “The Blockinator”, foreman Keith Schleiger, and his right-hand man, Dan Reilly.

THE BLOCK IS BACK

PREMIERES Sunday 5 August AT 7.00PM

Five ambitious couples will tackle the biggest construction in Block history when Australia’s favourite reality program returns to Nine on Sunday, August 5, at 7.00pm.

Over 11 gruelling weeks, and with a budget of $220,000, the new Blockheads will totally transform five luxury apartment spaces in the notorious Gatwick building located in beachside St Kilda in Melbourne.

They’re all competing for the chance to walk away with $100,000 prizemoney and any profit made when their apartments go under the hammer at a live public auction later this year.

Moving into The Gatwick are the five eager teams chosen from a record-breaking 45,000 entries:
• Bianca (36) and Carla (35), Australian champion netballers from Melbourne, VIC
• Kerrie (49) and Spence (47), married couple from the Barossa Valley, SA
• Sara (31) and Hayden (45), newlywed parents from The Shire, NSW
• Hans (37) and Courtney (33), the pilot and his first-class flight attendant partner from Perth, WA
• Norm (40) and Jess (33), engaged parents from the Sunshine Coast, QLD

There’s no time to settle in. In the first 48 hours, the teams will be tasked with creating a kids’ bedroom from start to finish. The winner of this challenge will have first choice to pick from either three apartments within the old, heritage part of the building, or two grand penthouses nestled on the roof.

It won’t be an easy choice. The two impressive rooftop properties don’t exist yet – not even a single wall, and one of the lower apartments has a safe with hidden booty inside.

Block host Scott Cam will be joined again by his co-host Shelley Craft, along with judges Neale Whitaker, Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer, “The Blockinator”, foreman Keith Schleiger, and his right-hand man, Dan Reilly.

Plans to renovate the Oslo Hotel in a future season of The Block were submitted to Port Phillip City Council on July 16 for approval. The plans reveal that the backpacker hotel will be transformed into five luxury, three storey, four bedroom dwellings.

Nine has revealed partners for this season of The Block. Five new companies: Amazon, Suncorp, A2 Milk, Canstar and Clipsal have come onboard, joining existing sponsors Mitre 10, Domain, McCafé, Youfoodz, Volkswagen and Bluescope Steel plus Blueprint Homes for the WA market.
A2 Milk and Canstar also sponsored the recently concluded season of MasterChef.

I haven’t watched The Block for many years, so I have to ask what happens in this situation. Does the team get to finish the bathroom later, or does the apartment go to auction with an unfinished bathroom?

in previous seasons they have a “make good week” where they fix unfinished things and change things that need changing
