The Block

Controversial Block couple Jesse and Paige call off wedding

Controversial Block couple Paige Beechey and Jesse Maguire have called off their wedding following their abrupt exit from the show earlier this month.

Following weeks of on-air drama and being branded this season’s “villains”, producers were forced to step in after tensions came to a head during one late-night fight that was captured on audio.

The engaged Perth-based couple have now sent their wedding guests a note informing them their planned nuptials have been postponed.

“While we were eagerly looking forward to celebrating our love and commitment with you all, we believe it is essential to acknowledge when a moment is not right. This year, it is not.

 They didn’t call it off, they postponed it. Massive difference between the two but hey it makes for a good click bait headline. Pathetic.

EPISODE 30

Maddy has woken up still very sad about her and Charlotte’s situation on The Block, not being embraced by the rest of the contestants.

Super sleuth Mimi is back, she correctly predicts there is a challenge despite the fact all the Blockheads have so much work to do on their living and dining rooms.

The challenge sees the contestants head to the famous Phillip Island race track.

Instead of racing cars or bikes, the contestants have to race in go karts with the fastest combined time winning the challenge.

Ricky and Haydn win again, taking out $5000, Kristian and Mimi come in second taking home $3000, while Kylie and Brad come in third, winning $2000.

At the challenge Scott announces to the group a first for The Block - he will provide painters for each house because of plaster delays that were out of their hands.

Back at The Block, Kristian swallows his pride and goes into Maddy and Charlotte’s house to ask to borrow their plasterers.

They say yes as he is in a lot of trouble, despite Kristian taking Maddy and Charlotte’s plasterers back in week one leaving them high and dry.

Maddy and Charlotte make the point that they want to be the bigger people, and Krisitan is very grateful.

He is virtually in tears, as the pressure of The Block appears to be getting to him.

What a nothing episode tonight. I also find it weird they had this whole thing about the sisters asking Kyal to be their builder and he said yes but we haven’t seen him since?

He said no.

Maddy exclusively tells Yahoo Lifestyle that she’s found it quite difficult watching the series because it’s “triggering” seeing how the other contestants treated them.

Maddy admits that she and Charlotte honestly have no idea why their co-stars were so “hostile” towards them during filming as they hadn’t done anything wrong.

What @David said. Kyal said he would have loved to, but it just wasn’t possible.

The whole season is rubbish.

Good.

Do you miss the drama? I wouldn’t say I have been super excited by the contestants this season but I have enjoyed it not being as toxic as previous seasons. I really just tune in on a Sunday though.

They don’t have as many signs around the place as they’ve had in the past. I know there are many signs for their main advertisers but what used to annoy the hell out of me was when two people are talking and it just happens to be right in front of a sponsor’s sign.

Episode 32

Courtney and Grant, Brad and Kylie and Kristian and Mimi are feeling a bit rough after a few too many drinks the night before, as they struggle to finish their living and dining rooms.

The pressure is really starting to get to Kristian, there have been a few tears this week.

He has to swallow his pride and go and ask for paint from Maddy and Charlotte, after he refused to help them on their first week of The Block and stole a plasterer.

Maddy and Charlotte manage to secure a Venetian plasterer at the last minute, but are shocked when Courtney and Grant try and poach him without even letting them know.

It came after Grant refused to help the girls the day before, and Charlotte and their builder Jack are furious.

It’s a competition, but it’s been very tough on Maddy and Charlotte.

Scotty calls “Tool’s Down,” and our judges arrive for judging.

House No. 1 Maddy and Charlotte spent $36,000

The judges thought it was a warm and beautiful space. Darren loved the white colour palette, but did think the room was all a bit safe. Shaynna thinks the girls styling is letting them down.

House No.2 Courtney and Grant spent $34,949

Darren loved the drama and the colour of Courtney and Grant’s room. Shaynna thought it was a return to form for the Sydney couple. The only issue all the judges had was the placement of the fire.

House No.3 Ricky and Haydn spent $50,160

A good effort but not great. They loved the artwork the boys won from an earlier challenge. The Velux sky lights were amazing.

House No.4 Kylie and Brad spent $50,477

Shaynna did something she has never done entering a room before, she sung at the top of her lungs because she liked Kylie and Brad’s effort. Everything worked, from the colour palette, the Christian Cole table and the layout. Marty Fox’s favourite room yet on The Block.

House No.5 Kristian and Mimi spent $14,590

A smaller space but that wasn’t the real issue for the judges with Kristian and Mimi’s living room. They thought they got the layout completely wrong. They didn’t take advantage of the balcony and views, everything was around the wrong way in their opinion.

Kylie and Brad took out the win, and $30,000 dollars for a huge week.

Episode 33

It’s the biggest week ever on The Block. Not only do our Blockheads have to build the office and rumpus spaces, but they also have to finish off the hallways.

So in total, there are 17 spaces across the Five houses that have to be built.

After such a strong start things are really starting to unravel for Kristian and Mimi, after some brutal feedback about their living and dining groom spaces.

At the Domain Open For Inspections everyone loves Kylie and Brad’s winning room, but they aren’t as kind towards Maddy and Charlotte’s efforts.

Maddy and Charlotte want to get the jump on the other contestants by building their own private entrance upstairs with a spiral staircase. This will mean House No.1 will have a fully contained unit.

However they thought they had approval from Foreman Dan, but The Block’s builders Nine In Six know nothing about it.

It’s that time of the build when budget is an issues, and all the couples have issues including Kristian and Mimi who are way over.

The pressure of The Block is really getting to Kristian and there are tears, but Mimi shows him no sympathy or support.

She says she doesn’t know how to handle it when Kristian is emotional and she tells him to: “do better.”

The pressure on Kristian and Mimi is immense.

Alice Stolz arrives on site and the annual Block challenge that everyone looks forward to - The Domain Listings and Buyers Challenge - is called. Every more pressure for our contestants.

Kylie and Brad winners dinner takes place on the Island with fan favourites Tom and Sarah Jane.

It’s a welcome escape from The Block, as Kylie and Brad have to scramble to find a new real estate agent and they lock in local expert Greg Price.

Episode 34

It’s judgement day for the Blockheads hallway spaces that have to be finished before the Domains challenge begins.

All of the contestants have to get the houses ready for 100 prospective buyers and throw an impressive party at the same time, to win an amazing $50,000.

Kylie and Brad have another fight as they struggle to meet the deadline to submit the Domain Listings copy and photos.

Scotty calls “tools down” on the hallways and Neale Whitaker makes a return to The Block to judge.

He walks around the hallways with Scott and Shelley to judge, and some are clearly not finished.

Kristian and Mimi’s tough week continues, and nearly in tears, Kristian is comforted by Neale who says he can still see some bright spots in their unfinished hallways.

In the end there is a clear winner, Courtney and Grant who take home $10,000.

Kristian and Mimi get a boost as Mimi’s family arrive to cook for the Domain party, driving from their restaurant in Adelaide just for the occasion.

The Domain challenge and event kicks off and it’s one massive party on The Block.

All eyes are on The Block’s super buyers Danny Wallis and Adrian Portelli, who are very impressed with the houses as they walk around with Scott to check them out.

Episode 35

The Domain Listings and Buyers jury is all over and the votes are in.

By one percentage point Ricky and Haydn take the win, over Kristian and Mimi. They are so excited to win $50,000 and now have no budget dramas as landscape week approaches.

Maddy and Charlotte are devastated after they only got 8 percent of the vote.

It was a huge night of partying post the challenge and Ricky and Haydn, Mimi, Courtney and Grant and Brad all missed the 7am compulsory pre start with the site foreman.

Ricky and Haydn’s builder Duncan arrives and the boys aren’t even up and a random person is sleeping on their couch.

Scott and Shelley do their walk arounds and are greeted by some very tired Blockheads.

Ricky and Haydn eventually get up and it’s revealed another local landscaper has pulled out after rumours persist The Block isn’t paying trades.

The emotional time for Kristian continues, he is having the week from hell and it’s becoming too much.

Kristian and Mimi are supposed to deliver two spaces this week - a downstairs rumpus space, and a guest bedroom upstairs - but they won’t finish and chose to only concentrate on the downstairs rumpus space.

Kristian breaks down to Foreman Dan and he sympathises and understands this tough Block rollercoaster he is on.

A new challenger is preparing to throw their hat into the ring at The Block auctions this year. But Tom Ormerod is not endeavouring to snap up a luxury holiday home for himself or his family. Instead, he will be bidding on behalf of a syndicate of buyers.

Paradoor, a co-ownership model for Australian holiday homes, launched last month with properties available in Noosa, Byron Bay and Daylesford. If everything goes to plan, Phillip Island will soon join the list.

Under the innovative model, up to eight parties share the legal ownership of a holiday home, with each owner enjoying exclusive access to the home for up to 44 nights each year. Stays are booked via an app, and Paradoor manages the property’s maintenance.

It could shape up to be a competitive auction, given Paradoor has already received interest from several Melbourne families looking to team up to buy.

EPISODE 36

It’s a huge week on The Block with hallway reveal, the Domain Listings and Buyers Jury challenge, and two spaces our Blockheads all have to complete.

Kristian and Mimi continue to clash, this time over a plan to move forward with the build. Mimi wants to start painting the unfinished hallway, but Krisitan wants to clean the rooms for next week and they can’t come to an agreement.

The two are having massive trouble with their relationship. Mimi admits she struggles with Kristian when he shows emotion and they have a very complex relationship. Krisitian admits he has never felt pressure like this on The Block. It’s all becoming too much for the Adelaide couple.

Despite all the dramas, there are some amazing rooms that are delivered as “tool’s down” is called.

House No.1 Maddy and Charlotte spent $38,833

The judges loved the fact the girls have created a self contained space with the spiral staircase and the door replacing what was a window. They loved the lighting plan. Great artwork choices. Everything just works.

House No.2 Courtney and Grant spent $29,091

The upstairs office space was a complete disaster for the judges. Well executed, but what was the point? The rumpus room they loved. Fantastic styling and furniture choices.

House No.3 Ricky and Haydn spent $39,119

The judges loved everything about the boys’ spaces this week. They thought with the games room they are catering to the holiday vibe on Phillip Island perfectly. A great week.

House No.4 Kylie and Brad spent $31,366

A disastrous week for Kylie and Brad. The judges had nothing nice to say about both of their spaces. They thought the upstairs couch looking over the living and dining room was pointless. Marty called their rumpus space the most uncomfortable room on The Block. Kylie is not happy at all.

House No.5 Kristian and Mimi spent $34,492

The judges could only judge one room this week as Kristian and Mimi failed to finish their upstairs bedroom. They thought they got the planning completely wrong and would have liked it if they stuck to the original plans - to build a guest bedroom and not a rumpus space. They thought the room screamed display suite.

A tie this week with Ricky and Haydn and Maddy and Charlotte. Kylie is not happy at all. She feels the girls are getting special treatment. She refuses to talk to production afterwards and tells Brad she wants to walk.

"Phillip Island has a has one bridge in and out,” executive producer Julian Cress tells TV Tonight.

“It’s not a place that you can do a big public event without an immense amount of planning and logistics.

Inspections are by appointment only, through the agent listed in each property listing on the Domain website.

Looks like the auctions will take place on Saturday November 2, with the finale to air the following night.
