The Block

Episode 23

The challenge at the Woolamai Surf Club comes to an end with a special guest judge - Neale Whitaker - to crown the winners.

The team of Ricky and Haydn, Kylie and Brad and Kyal and Kara take out the win. The Woolamai Surf Club couldn’t be happier with the final result.

Back on The Block, Maddy and Charlotte are finishing their kitchen without a builder, after they fell out with Zac the day before and he walked off the job.

They had hoped Kyal would join them as their new builder, but he let them know unfortunately he had too many projects back home and he couldn’t commit.

Scott and Shelley walk around The Block and they are very impressed with the high level of kitchens all the contestants are doing, it’s going to be a tough week for our judges Shaynna, Darren and Marty to pick a winner.

Kitchen reveals are usually one of the biggest eps of the year.

Its so weird, the biggest and most complicated room in the house and the teams this week have been fart arsing about on challenges and putting stickers on boats. Is all they are doing the wall painting and styling this week? well 2 teams won stylist packages.

Community challenges happen every kitchen week.

EPISODE 24 Kitchen Reveals

It’s one of the biggest days on The Block, the day before kitchen week judging and our contestants are all scrambling to finish.

This year there are five very different kitchens, all of them amazing.

Foreman Dan and Grant have appeared to have made up and are all friendly again, after earlier having words as Dan accused him of over ordering gyprock. Grant points out everyone has done it, and Foreman Dan walks around the site and does an audit and finds this is true.

Kristian and Mimi get a boost when his parents arrive from Adelaide with their pet dog.

Scott calls “tool’s down,” and our contestants all breathe a sigh of relief as everyone delivers amazing kitchens for the judges.

House No.1 Maddy and Charlotte spent $15,253

WOW was the overall feeling from The Block judges Shaynna, Darren and Marty. They also paid tribute to Jesse and Paige for choosing the Kinsman kitchen in the first place. The judges loved the sense of luxury and the traditional nature of the kitchen. The stone was incredible.

House No.2 Courtney and Grant spent $13,402

The judges were divided over this kitchen. Marty wasn’t a fan at all, while Darren and Shaynna thought it was almost perfect. Marty didn’t think the kitchen hit its’ mark, while Shaynna thought he was crazy to think that.

House No.3 Ricky and Haydn spent $16,869

A finished room from the boys but not amazing feedback. Shaynna was brutal, saying the styline was too simplistic and Ricky and Haydn needed to get better and source Instagram and Pinterest for ideas. All three judges had issues with the layout. Shaynna hated the white painting on the Porta timber. The boys are devastated.

House No.4 Kylie and Brad spent $12,030

Finally Kylie and Brad have hit the mark with the judges. The dark and moody style of this kitchen, with all its hidden gadgets and cupboards, was their best room yet. Kylie wanted the judges to love this room as it is exactly her style, so she was very happy to hear the feedback.

House No.5 Kristian and Mimi spent $20,814

Krisitan and Mimi’s green Shrek-like Smeg oven was polarising for our judges, once again more clashes between Marty and Shaynna. Marty also wasn’t a fan of the trip stack bench top. Mixed feedback for Kristian and Mimi.

Some huge scores, and finally Kylie and Brad play their penguin and beat Maddy and Charlotte by half a point. Controversially, they only played it so the sisters didn’t win.

Marty was on point this week.
Personally I found House 2 and 5 to have horrible looking kitchens, especially house 5’s island bench.

The criticisms for the boys I think was fair and Shayna gave great advice on how they can fix it.

I wish house 4 used the bonus point in the previous 2 weeks because house 1 had my favourite kitchen, especially so after Kylie’s comments that it’s Jesse and Paige’s house and not Maddy and Charlotte’s.

Some interesting shots in the “still to come” promo.

What are Omar and Oz doing there? Is it old footage?

Also Danny and Adrian… I heard Danny was broke and looks like if that is auction day the same old same old.

Scott is also more dressed up than a normal auction…perhaps there is an event or something to mark season 20?

2025

Nothing interesting about it.

Have you been watching this season?

It was announced as an “all star season” too with many ex contestants returning during the run.

Kyal and Kara were back all last week.

I think it’s the Buyer’s Jury which was held on May 2.

EPISODE 25 - Guest Ensuite Week

This week our Blockheads are building their guest ensuites, with most of the couples heading upstairs in the build for the first time.

At the Domain Open For Inspections there is a lot of love for Kylie and Brad’s winning kitchen, but Maddy and Charlotte don’t get a lot of love.

Foreman Dan lets everyone know in the morning that over ordering plaster must stop and there are a few shut downs, and he throws Grant under the bus for dobbing.

Grant isn’t happy at all about this.

Ricky gets a call from local supplier Betsy’s Glass who haven’t been paid by Grant and this concerns him. Ricky is wanting to use Betsy’s Glass this week but they are reluctant initially as they are still waiting to be paid for a shower screen from back in week three.

In Ricky’s eyes as a tradesman, it’s integral to pay trades on time especially in a local community like Phillip Island. He promises to get the better of it.

After being told off by Foreman Dan, The Block is getting to Courtney and it’s becoming very overwhelming.

House 4’s Kylie and Brad head to their winners dinner in the City with Scotty and Allstars Michael and Carlene.

Back on The Block, gun real estate Aaron Wood from Ray White, who has won The Block twice, has to choose who he will represent between Courtney and Grant and Ricky and Haydyn when it comes to selling on auction day.

He choses Ricky and Haydn, while his auctioneer, Sydney based Tom Panos, chooses Courtney and Grant.

Another criinge moment tonight.

One of the contestants was feeling low and didn’t have inspiration for her ensuite but then she drank her McCafe coffee and a light bulb moment hit and she could think again and came up with a fantastic idea! :joy:

Oh and don’t forget the boys talking to the Shelley boat and them splicing her voice in talking back lol

Also for crying out loud the whole didnt pay your trades through little birdies telling other contestants drama is old! Back in the day someone else kept a look at their budget and they were pulled up. Now it just seems they have endless money and no problems not finishing a room on budget.

3AW, Nine and Complete Home Filtration are launching a home viewer competition next week, with a chance to win $1000 each weekday. Watch The Block over the next two weeks from this Sunday (September 29), then tune into 3AW drive program the next day for a chance to enter.

2GB Trivia

Kylie and Brad are behaving like spoilt children. Constant whinging that Maddy and Charlotte took over from their friends Jesse and Paige, who left the show of their own accord. Then being all sooky lala when M&C won the room this week, even refusing to look at them.

EPISODE 28 Bathroom ensuite reveals

A Ford basketball challenge is called on a Saturday which isn’t ideal for out Blockheads as they run out of time to finish their bathroom ensuites.

Ricky and Haydn end up taking out the challenge.

All the talk is still about the girls and the online videos of them house flipping that surfaced after Haydn’s wife Chelsea found them.

It’s been a legitimate strategy to withhold information by Blockheads over the years to get an advantage of the situation, and Maddy and Charlotte did just that, telling most of the Blockheads they were accountants.

They did however mention to Mimi what they did two weeks ago when they arrived at The Block, but she has seemingly forgotten that.

Haydn confronts Maddy and Charlotte about the videos and they brush it off, but everyone else is still very suspicious.

Maddy and Charlotte have a rough Saturday, fighting after Maddy spent too much time away shopping in Charlotte’s eyes as they struggled to finish their bathroom.

Most of the couples have all nighters as they limp to the finish line with their bathroom ensuites as Scotty arrives to call “tool’s down.”

House No.1 Maddy and Charlotte spent $19,660

The judges loved the neutral colour palette, the off white really worked. They were impressed with Maddy and Charlotte’s first room that was 100 percent their ideas and execution. Shaynna coined a new style for the sisters - Classic Simplicity.

House No.2 Courntey and Grant spent $27,595

A real divide between the judges Courntey and Grant’s bathroom as they walked through. Marty felt it was far too over the top and too much. While Shaynna and Darren thought the design was spectacular. The issue Shaynna and Marty agreed on was they thought it was poor floor planning and too big.

House No.3 Ricky and Haydn spent $33,112

A much better effort this week for Ricky and Haydn. The judges loved the continuation of the circular theme, very Phillip Island. They thought the different yellows - from wall paint to tiles - could have been a bit different and more subtle. But overall, a much better effort.

House No.4 Kylie and Brad spent $28,148

Darren thought this is exactly what Kylie and Brad should be doing. Bold and unique, he loved it. Marty wasn’t a massive fan of the tiles which resemble real timber. Shaynna was somewhere in the middle.

House No.5 Kristian and Mimi spent $27,720

Marty liked what Kristian and Mimi delivered, he called it clean and very marketable. But Shaynna thought it was too much the same as Kristian and Mimi’s other bathrooms. All three judges agreed the finishes weren’t great.

Maddy and Charlotte took out the win, and afterwards everyone congratulated them but Kylie and Brad refused to. Kylie and Brad at this stage, just don’t like the girls.

Darren Palmer:
Maddy & Charlotte 9 ½
Courtney & Grumpy 8 ½
Ricky & Haydn 9
Kylie & Brad 8 ½
Kristian & Mimi 8

Marty Fox:
Maddy & Charlotte 9
Courtney & Grumpy 7 ½
Ricky & Haydn 8
Kylie & Brad 7 ½
Kristian & Mimi 8 ½

Shaynna Blaze:
Maddy & Charlotte 9
Courtney & Grumpy 8
Ricky & Haydn 8
Kylie & Brad 8 ½
Kristian & Mimi 8

TOTALS:
Maddy & Charlotte 27 ½
Courtney & Grumpy 24
Ricky & Haydn 25
Kylie & Brad 24
Kristian & Mimi 24 ½

Best part was when Brad delusionally said the girls will be the most hated contestants on the Block…

Also all these 30 somethings bullying a 24 and 22 year old, I do appreciate the producers calling out their hypocrisies.

Episode 29 Dining Room Week

It’s one of the most important rooms on The Block this week, living and dining room week.

Everyone is talking about Maddy and Charlotte’s win but all the Blockheads aren’t happy, Kylie and Brad don’t even congratulate them.

Maddy is starting to feel uncomfortable about it all, she wants to make friends during her Block experience but she and Charlotte are finding it tough so far.

The sisters get a huge lift to their morale when they head to the Chadstone Shopping Centre hotel for a night of shopping and dinner, and they are greeted by Eliza and Liberty.

At the dinner the sisters tell Eliza and Liberty about their troubles connecting with the other Blockheads, and point out Kylie who is just not being friendly.

Eliza and Liberty tell them to just stay in their own lane, and that they are doing an incredible job coming in how they did and so late.

A bromance is developing between Kristian and Grant, and the best mates head out together to shop at JB Hifi

Foreman Dan calls a meeting, there are huge problems with the CSR gyprock delivery which sets everyone back.

When Maddy and Charlotte arrive back at The Block, Maddy is in tears. The whole Kylie situation and not feeling like she has any friends on The Block is getting to her.
