I can’t recall the last time The Block didn’t have an on-site McCafe…

The Block names 2021 sponsors

Australia’s favourite renovation reality program, The Block, has named the sponsors for its 17th season which debuted strongly this week with an overnight metro average audience of 747,000.

Among the new brands joining the show for the first time this year are Peters Connoisseur, Simonds Homes and Xero, while there are more than 10 brands returning as major partners, including The A2 Milk Company, Bluescope Steel, Canstar, Catch, Domain, Ford, hipages, McCafé, Mitre 10, Suncorp and Youfoodz.

Liana Dubois, Nine’s Director of Powered, says The Block is a unique property on television in terms of the way it delivers commercial results for its major partners by tapping into Australia’s love of property and renovation.

“The Block is like no other property on Australian television because it allows our partners to activate big ideas that drive massive commercial results,” said Dubois. “It consistently delivers results for our clients and this is the reason we see them returning year after year.”

In 2021, The Block returns with a twist, the Fans v Faves theme that brings three unsuspecting yet hopeful couples face to face with two sets of very experienced returning all-stars in a setting never attempted before – a traditional Australian cul-de-sac in the Melbourne bayside suburb of Hampton.

The major partnerships for 2021 include:
• BlueScope returns as a long-term sponsor, supplying COLORBOND® steel Matt to transform the roofing and walling of contestants’ houses.
• Canstar will be leveraging Block host Shelley Craft in a series of TVCs.
• Catch.com.au, returns positioning themselves as the go-to Aussie online shopping destination for the finishing touch on each room.
• Connoisseur Ice Cream joins The Block serving indulgence to the Blockheads.
• Domain returns as the proud property sponsor for the seventh year running, helping to reach potential buyers and drive The Block listing views which are available only on the Domain app.
• Ford Australia, returns as the official automotive partner for 2021, featuring vehicles including the all-new Puma, Ranger Wildtrak, Everest, Transit Custom, and Ford Performance icons – the Ranger Raptor and Mustang.
• hipages who will be connecting contestants with trusted tradies through their app and celebrating the great work tradies do on The Block.
• McCafé will be bringing their new McCafé coffee blend on to The Block in their pop-up McCafé.
• Mitre 10 are returning with their mighty helpful service and family-focused business with a new TVC featuring host Scott Cam.
• Suncorp return to support The Blockheads with their money management and renovation journey.
• Simonds Homes, the Great Australian Builder joins as a sponsor, giving fans the opportunity to win $30,000 to make their dream homes come true.
• The A2 Milk Company, return this year to deliver delicious a2 Milk™ throughout the series, and inspire the Blockheads to be their best.
• Xero online accounting joins The Block to make it easier for Blockheads and their trades to manage their numbers
• Youfoodz joins, fuelling teams with tasty, ready-made meals

Other sponsors include Advantage Air and Bonds, who will also have integrations in The Block throughout the series.

Looks like next week is when The Block goes full Married at First Sight. According to the promo I saw it looks like next week contains: Bickering, backstabbing, arguing, yelling, deception and more. Basically 1% Reno and 99% nothing.

I’m so ready for it :raised_hands:

Take your pick:

The Biggest TV scandal there has ever been

The biggest cheating scandal in TV history

The Block’s biggest scandal of all time

It’s all three.

Oh for heavens sake…

I can think of a few scandals during the near 65 years of Australian TV history that have had far more serious implications on the industry than some nonsense during The Block.

Personally I wonder how long it’ll be until the classic Channel Nine promotional cliché (used earlier this year for the MAFS Finale) that is “The Biggest TV Event of the year” gets trotted out again?

In my opinion The Block needs to be rested for a year or two while they rework it.
personally I really liked the block in the original 2 seasons when it was all about the renovating and the contenstants used to work during the day so it was more realistic.

-Move to a new location ( out of melbourne)
-Back to Basics
-Refresh of hosts?

It needs the voice treatment. Completely flush out.

And that includes producers.

Be lucky to get a change in producers. Julian Cress and co have been producing from the start.

Big Block shock rocks the cul-de-sac

Tempers will flare and friendships will never be the same when the biggest scandal to hit The Block in its history threatens to upend the competition and unravel the whole series.

This Sunday at 7 o’Block on Channel 9, The Block Fans v Faves will be rocked by claims of cheating and dishonesty that sends the cul-de-sac into meltdown and gives those involved a huge leg-up in a competition where more than $100,000 is at stake.

Good neighbours certainly won’t become good friends in this classic “whodunit” tale – all couples and tradespeople on site are under suspicion and there’ll be tears, tantrums, tell-alls, and even a comparison or two to the sensational antics on Married at First Sight.

The Block host, Scott Cam, said the cheating scandal has had a big impact on every renovation couple and almost jeopardised the integrity of the show, which is in its 17th season.

“I have never seen anything like this in any of the TV shows I have worked on over the years. We had to have some serious production meetings to establish a way to move forward,” he said.

“I was utterly shocked, disappointed and extremely annoyed – this scandal made it very unfair for everyone. It also affected something I love very much, and that is the build of The Block.

“There is certainly a lot of tension, a lot of finger pointing and a lot of denial going on.”

Despite the tumultuous week, the Fans and Faves are still digging deeper than ever, pulling off some of the most luxurious room reveals the show has ever seen, but with a unique twist – it’s Basement week, a first for The Block.

And all this happening on the BIGGEST BLOCK EVER :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

This show seriously needs a shakeup format wise next year, and it always amazes me that they have an amazing co host in Shelly but shes massively under utilized not only on the block but on nine in general

Shelley and Shaynna are about the only good things about this show this year. Too bad they don’t get too much airtime thanks to the boys club mentality on the show.

To be fair not even Scott cam gets much airtime. It’s about the contestants. I would say Shayna gets a good amount of airtime on sundays and often pops up during the week.

Plus Keith and Dan. Those two are so obnoxious.

And in comparison to Shelley and Shaynna Scott does get a bit more airtime with all the ‘Tools Down’ and the the judging part plus bits and pieces.

And he narrates every episode.

Such a shame Shaynna dumped Selling Houses Australia and stayed with this crap

I couldn’t stand Dan from him season. The shows has always been a boys club. It’s no different from any other season. I’m not going to lie I still enjoy the show. For some reason it gets me back most years, but I do agree things should change.
