Interesting way to start season 38. The teams had to complete a human ten pin bowling task (first team to finish received the express pass, last team to finish had to do a hazard sometime during this leg) before meeting Phil in the town centre of Hoorn. There, all the teams decided the second team to receive an express pass.
I didn’t love the first episode (too much focus on who knows who from Big Brother) and was skeptical about this European only concept this season but I’ve seen the second episode which was much better. It adds a different dynamic with travel on trains between locations (as opposed to airports), there was a lot of drama/mishaps from teams navigating different trains and stops in episode 2.
Filming is set to take place in the Melbourne CBD.
It took until Seven’s commissioning of The Amazing Race Australia for Melbourne to be included in the places visited by the franchise, but still I am pleased that the city will feature in the next season premiering in 2026.
EDIT: Phil posted a video on Instagram accounts of himself and the show two weeks ago, confirming the next season would begin in Vancouver.
Where’s Beau - they could get him as the Aussie Pit Stop Greater and have him meet Phil (maybe Phil can teach him proper Pit Stop decorum
).
And make him boring. ![]()
Hard to believe after 39 seasons that they have never been to Melbourne.
We will not accept the Phil slander ![]()
Fact not slander. ![]()
I’ll be in the city tomorrow! Will have to keep an eye on socials for any sightings.
Any thoughts of where they might go? Queen Vic Market perhaps? Or one of the sporting stadiums and perhaps Botanical Gardens? Flinders Street station would be good but I assume they’d need to be travelling somewhere to get inside. I’m very interested to see where the teams will go.
From that picture, Hosier Lane seems to be a stopping point.
Melbourne Museum or the MCG could be a pit stop.
The Amazing Race moved to 11.30pm Wednesdays. First Dates UK to Thursdays 9.30pm
From next Wednesday I assume?
This Wednesday at 11.30pm is the season finale of The Agenda Setters.
Yes
The pit stop was at Carlton Gardens outside the Royal Exhibition Building. I heard about it so headed over but the leg was over. I’ve located 3 teams and they are spread out in different spots in the gardens doing post leg interviews.
If the teams arrived at the pit stop they must have had an early start. A hot air balloon ride perhaps?
Also, as Seven holds the rights to the US version, it will be great if it can ask Phil to record a short clip to promote the season, so it can be screened to advertisers at the network’s 2026 upfronts next week.
It is quite common in cities that they start early to try and beat crowds later in the day. It’s also possible that the leg started when they flew in last night and they had to wait until the morning for the first challenge spot to open (very common on US Amazing Race) which means they start early.
Sounds like there was a task at the MCG and some teams were spotted running down Exhibition St to Carlton Gardens where the pit stop was.
