The Amazing Race Australia

After 1 ep? Don’t go on it then.

You really can’t control when mental health issues will surface. You can’t really know what happened when.

Maybe they wanted to withdraw before starting the show but the producers encouraged them to give it a go. Or maybe he crashed out during the first leg of the competition but pushed himself over the line.

Same with Mel Buttle on I’m A Celebrity who quit after a few eps. Probably didn’t realise how serious things were until she was placed in those unusual circumstances.

Jude and Shannon received Sabotage which meant one of them could not speak for the entire leg. Shannon elected not to speak. Given the leg lasted for two days, it would be hard for Shannon who was unable to speak one word until the mums reached the pit stop.

Sounds as though the disadvantage put them at a disadvantage.

How close was that last 10 minutes. Quite often on the US version, the editing makes the finishes look a lot closer than they are. But tonight saw 3 teams finish within the last 10 minute time penalty plus the penalised team and a 5th team was seen in the background about to finish.

The producers were generous in allowing Dwes and Katherine (who were eliminated at the end of leg 1) to return to the race, after Alex and Jack pulled out.
Jordan and Violeta were very lucky to finish within that 10 minute timeframe given they left their bags at the Winton Truck Museum and had to go back to retrieve them, before travelling to the detour (polishing solar panels).

A shame they couldn’t have been returned last episode.

That’s my issue. They should have returned episode 2 and not skipped a leg, otherwise they shouldn’t have come back at all. At the very least they should also be given a Sabotage. Imagine they win now… They were eliminated, skipped a leg after being eliminated and essentially started the race in leg 3.

Then the new twists this season ike this First Class pass this season are too gimmicky for my liking. The only one I like is that the team that came last gets some sort of disadvantage… that’s fair and should happen.

I am not a betting person but I’d put a lot of money on that Dwes and Katherine are not going to win.

Are The Amazing Race and Survivor produced by the same company? Survivor has such an amazing way of opening and introducing the audience to the show. But The Amazing Race started off so slowly in my opinion.

TARA is from Eureka Productions while Australian Survivor is from Endemol Shine.

I knew there was a price to pay for Jaskirat and Anurag for winning the First Class Pass on the Gold Coast leg. They had to choose a random spot to start leg 4 and picked 10th.

The promo for tonight’s episode said a team would be forced to withdraw from the competition due to an injury at Magnetic Island.

There are way too many gimmicks this season. I don’t believe that there was even any mention of Jaskirat and Anurag during the last leg at all apart from the recap at the start and you would presume that winning would mean they would commence the next leg in first place.

Also I am not a fan of forcing the leading team to U-turn. A U-turn is meant to be option and add a strategic element to the game. The team coming in first place generally would not want to U-turn and it’s more beneficial for those further down the pack to use it as a tool to keep themselves in the race. The US also always does double U-turn’s these days as it’s completely unfair that just one team is forced to do two tasks, plus it’s more exciting when it’s two teams battling it out.

I didn’t realise last night’s U-turn was compulsory, given that in the US version, teams can choose not to use it.

I didn’t realise the U-turn was compulsory either. A U-turn is usually more of a strategic move from a team who may be running behind some of the other teams so they can make a team behind them do both sides of the challenge. The only part of a U-turn that I’m not a fan of is where teams can deliberately U-turn a team that they know is ahead of them to stop anyone else using the U-turn.
