Yep - Beau said via narration “On their way to Bangcok, teams voted for a U-Turn”
Yet we’ve never even seen the teams inside an airport or on a flight this season!
You’re too emotional and invested in reality television.
Just chillax, mate. It’s just a TV show.
Yeah, that’s not right. I mean they even film the contestants when they read the clues, so surely they can’t do something like this behind closed (plane)doors. Tipping it wouldn’t have been much fun at the airport when they were all leaving Thailand.
In the US version there is a cap on the amount of challenges each contestant can do. So far Jerome has done 6 and Jasmin has done 1 (I thought Jerome was now on 7 but wikipedia says it’s only 6). Wonder if this will be enforced tonight and Jasmin will have to do the remaining challenges?
The footy boys managed it, and overtook a team after completing the u turn. It was the time they spend on the last challenge that cost them a place - by all of one minute.
If this was a standard uturn, yes. But it wasn’t. If the team that was u turned was in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Place, that would’ve sealed their fate for sure. Being in first gave the boys the chance to fight back - which they did.
And let’s not forget they were coming third again before stumbling in the final gold leaf challenge.
That’s something I want to see next year.
Maybe if you had watched more than 30 seasons of The Amazing Race and also knew a contestant on this season, then you’d be just as invested as I am.
That’s not the point. Being slower than another team on the final challenge has nothing to do with it. Had they not been U-turned by a made up vote that did not even happen during the leg, they would not have been eliminated.
Like I’ve said I know one of the F3 contestats (I’ve even been invited to his finale viewing party tonight) and Tom and Tyler going definitely increases his chances of winning so that’s great. I just think (like a lot of viewers going by the socials) that the producers did anything that they could to stop what they probably thought had become a very one sided race. To me it would have been a more exciting final leg had the best team been there and potentially been pipped at the post by another team (Viv and Joey of course!!! ) fair and square.
It was up to the teams to decide who to u-turn, and coincidental that the boys were in first place when it happened to them.
Yeah, nah! I’m not a reality show tragic.
There’s no reason why an Australian reality show has to follow the American version. Fact is, very few Aussie reality series follow the original concepts from America, Britain or Europe, to the letter.
Don’t worry. You’ll live.
I noticed last night that they gave the times the teams arrived at the pitstop. I hadn’t noticed this before so have they done this all season? (FYI, Tim and Rod arrived at 7.15pm, Viv and Joey at 7.58 and Jerome and Jasmin at 8pm - the boys were one minute later).
Who does everyone think will win tonight?
My tip is Jasmin and Jerome, solely because multiple teams (and Beau) have tipped them to win, and seeing as this was recorded months ago, they would already know who the winner is. Also the producers showed them multiple times say they were ‘doing it for our son’.
Who do I want to win? Viv and Joey definitely. The boys, the nuns and V&J were my favourite teams.
Mind you, the karma bus may come and bite V&J and J&J on the butt and the newlyweds may win.
While it would be nice to see Viv & Joey win the $250,000, my gut feeling is Tim & Rod will win. Regardless who wins, let’s hope it’s a tight race to the finish line, rather than for example, the winning team crossing the finish line 2 hours ahead of the runners up.
'carn Tim and Rod.
They’ve made this series with their good natured antics.
It wasn’t a coincidence at all. The producers threw in this at the last minute to try and get Tom and Tyler out to get a more exciting finale.
That’s impossible with this version considering the producers bunch the teams up so it doesn’t make a difference how far you are ahead on the previous leg of the race. Which is another thing that sucks about this version.
I’ll tip Tim and Rod
TARA is back in 2020 and we’re now looking for all new teams to take on the greatest challenges the world has to offer for a crack at $250,000.
Technically it’s Season 5 of The Amazing Race Australia.
I was hoping for Jasmine and Jerome to win tonight’s finale because Darwin is their home, and shook my head in disbelief when Tim and Rod crossed the finish line first. Jasmine wasted an hour training a cattle dog at the roadblock which was ultimately the difference between the Indigenous couple coming first and second.
Viv and Joey were not able to tandem skydive because it was too windy, but they were not penalised (Viv reckoned she and Joey would have been able to skydive had they not spent so much time at Darwin Waterfront looking for special front pages of NT News). They took a surprise lead after the roadblock, but an hour kayaking in the Nitmiluk Gorge looking for puzzle pieces cost them valuable time.
It was great to see The Amazing Race Australia returning to our screens after five years’ absence but there are plenty of room for improvement.
