If they don’t start immediately, they would risk loosing the The Project viewers to 7/9 and they probably wouldn’t come back to try the new program on 10.
They have to promote starting now realistically or people will go to 7 & 9 and like David said, they lose viewership.
Yet theyre saying theyre pumping $20 mil on the gamble.
But the viewers are already at 7 or 9.
I think this is a case where you let the product speak for itself and go for a soft launch, taking the pressure off.
There is no reason to think any existing viewer switching on at 6:30 and 7 as a habit wouldn’t do the same on the Monday then numbers will work themselves from that.
A “soft” launch would imply a full launch later on backed by strategy.
ten is not good at marketing - they’re by far the worst of anyone in Australia (media wise) so any soft launch and lack or marketing spend will likely be a result of just generally being bad at marketing. And not a strategy.
You don’t come to market with a $20m product and not put marketing spend / resource behind it.
Are u new here? That’s Ten’s track record. Be lucky if there’s any promotion before 27th I mean I am joking but at the same time, probably not
They risk losing them anyway, cos it’s a national format versus local news. Give it a two week promo build up and sell the benefits is The Project is gone
And The Project was… a national current affairs program…?
Fair but this is more news rather than news done different
They need a strategy on how to sell this.
Knowing -10 they will whack some promos together with no actual strategy or marketing angle
Have any socials been set up yet?
TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram etc?
My favourite ‘revamp’ promo for 10 News. You could basically whack on 10 News+ at the end of this, if they are short of cash
Lots of newsroom shots and then the two presenters at the end. Stock standard.
Wasn’t that promo shot from an American Newsroom?
They don’t even promote the local 5pm outside of the 10sec ‘switch on’ promos. In Brisbane, we got a pre-launch campaign, but that hasn’t been maintained at all, which is such a missed opportunity.
I remember reading that was the case, too. But then I thought maybe I remembered incorrectly as it looks very much like the expensive Sydney newsroom set and wooden desk they had at one stage in the late 80s. I guess that was gone by time this promo was shot.
This is their problem. They do not promote the brand at all. They have the same masterchef plus 2-3 other shows on endless rotation. News needs be promoted every single ad break as either a 10sec, 15 sec or 30 sec spot.
Me too but I couldn’t tell you where i read it. Not sure if it was something that was verified
Ironically, and disappointingly, it was nothing like the set they ended up using! We got a small studio set up instead (albeit a nice one).
