A new program for the 10 News brand:

Not sure about this.

Now 7 should swoop and pinch The Project name (maybe modify it to The 7 Project or something similar) and some of its stars for their 7pm timeslot. I think it could work on 7.
Move Home and Away to Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm.

You are obsessed with moving Home and Away.

It’s still rating well there. Why do you want it moved so badly?

A soap shouldn’t be split the way you’re suggesting it be.

10 are axing The Project and its name for a reason. It’s dead.

I don’t really like the name… especially the long version. Why ‘Behind the Lines’ and not ‘Behind the Headlines’?

Because Behind The Lines has more than one meaning (Headlinea, enemy lines, party lines etc)?

Seems like a good idea, but how long will it last this time around before 10 gives up on current affairs again.

Yeah, I immediately think war. So my perception is that it is going to be very serious. It makes it more difficult then to alter that perception when they are forced to cover celebrity interviews when it doesn’t rate.

‘Behind the Headlines’ tells the audience that it is a longer-form, investigative show.’Behind the Lines’ could be anything. Sounds like a documentary.

A Current Affair has barely covered current affairs for the last 30 years.

At least we have a name (for now) for the new 6.30pm show.

I dont mind having its laumch in July or August. Its somethong fresh for the second half of the year.

It’s going to be hard to get viewers to turn onto a show at 6:30 from Seven or Nine in the middle of a news bulletin. You can guarantee that both those networks will do their best to make sure there is no break in their bulletins around that time.

Just bring back The Simpsons. I can’t see this lasting.

Based on the brief information we have, I give this show 5 months. The format sounds too heavy for 6.30.

I agree - maybe if it wasn’t just an investigative show it might last longer, but this format + timeslot it will probably go down the same route as 6pm with George Negus - gone within a year.

Yep… I predict a Game Show to take its place in 2026.

Starting prime time at 7 rather than 7.30 seems a smart strategic move to me

And being up against the 2nd half of Seven and Nine News it will face exactly the same challenge that The Project has faced for the last 10 years. Not sure of Ten’s thinking that this will be any different.

A 7pm start works fine with Big Brother and Masterchef that go for most nights of the week. But what happens when 10 is between reality shows (or those realities that air two-to-three nights a week)? Would shows like Dog House Aus, House Hunters, Graham Norton etc work as a 7pm start on a Wed, Thurs and Fri nights?

Not to mention new unknown reality formats they might try in the slot - easier to bring people over when you have an established brand like MasterChef.

Still need a solution for 6pm on Sundays.

This show sounds good but I don’t think it will rate and I don’t like prime time starting at 7pm. The other networks aren’t starting at that time and people just don’t watch 10 so they’re hardly going to break their nightly viewing habits with ACA and H&A to watch inconsistent programming on 10. They just don’t have the content to do 7pm prime time when they barely air 1-2 shows as it is.
