Finally! At long last! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

That mustache is impressive.

I didn’t even bring up the idea mate. Just saying if 10 wants to run cameras at PH with whomever they want in front of them, there is a precedent.

Omg 10 News local news update in Bundaberg.

The presenter is either on Year 10 work experience or he’s a studio hand filling in. I’m all for giving young ones a go, but seriously?

Did you catch their name?

Any caps?

No and no. A young guy. It was around 1.00pm.

I think the newsreader in question only started filling-in for Stacey on the Regional QLD updates late last month, as seen here on his X (formerly known as Twitter) page:

He will eventually get better with experience.

He looks like he’s enjoying himself presenting the updates, good on him.
Interestingly, he’s based in Tassie.

Is 10 pumping out regional updates all from Tasmania now?

All 10 regional updates are from Hobart, except the Northern NSW + Gold Coast updates (said updates are still recorded from WIN TV’s Wollongong studio)

Has always been the case, except for Northern NSW.

I remember the updates in Canberra - the last update aired in 2017.

I realise it’s a showreel and I didn’t see the particular update in question but I can’t really find fault in his pacing, tone or inflection. I know pronunciation of locations is always a bugbear but even the most experienced national presenter can stuff that up when reading from an autocue.

I’m not the first person to mention it but the references to ‘the work experience kid’ are really unnecessary and we should be better than that. Even if it is literally the work experience kid then we should be supporting them at getting a chance to be on camera so early in their career.

Well said, @dipper :100:

Yeah that’s him.

exactly. Ditto “intern” as a derogatory term.

Apologies. Wasn’t meant to be derogatory; my point is that he doesn’t look ready to be on air. Surely there is a certain amount of training etc. that happens before anyone even gets to go live on camera? Has he even been a junior reporter anywhere?

If 10 are going to do these updates don’t just throw someone on screen and expect them to get better with time. But then, they have no regional newsroom, so there’s nowhere for him to learn.

Doing these updates is entry-level, so probably not.

doubt it, you’d assume someone (a supervisor, a colleague, an editor, the camera person) would say ‘oh just fix your tie’.
