Actually it doesn’t:
The plan is for Holt to be based in Sydney and Freebairn to be based in Melbourne

Which makes sense, as she’ll be the combined Melbourne / Adelaide bulletin.
Whatever. Point stands. They’re relocating instead of phoning it in.
Just pointing out that it quite clearly doesn’t say what you said it does, as you would be very quick to point out if others quoted incorrect information
So what I accidentally got one location wrong. The point still is they are moving.
Sorry I’m not perfect.
How would that ever work on a daily basis? Being on location, then racing back inside to present the other weather…
Because the studios are gone.
Newsreaders would be on a higher salary than your weather presenters though, especially those that have been in their roles for 20+ years.
Mike and Tim were in one market only. They’ll be getting more value out of existing staff covering multiple markets, many of whom would be on less $
Ah, pre record Melbourne and Sydney weather? Generic outside location? Heaps of ways to make it work but, hey, it’s 10 of course they won’t.
Pretty sure the newsrooms are still there even if they won’t really be used. Thought the point was reducing costs by sacking presenters, studio crew rather than what city people are in.
Those two markets are never going to accept pre-recorded forecasts.
Ah, no. There is no crew to spare to film it… and they need to control the graphics. Green screen or big plasma behind, as it always has been. No need to complicate it.
Newsrooms are still there. The studio equipment and crew is gone…
Any word on those massive fibre links? They might not justify the cost of maintaining if they’re only being used for live crosses instead of full shows.
That’s all Telstra equipment on lease.
Surely there will be a small set up for live crosses etc for reporters though?
Sully will do, better to cut the local anchor then to sack in the field journos.
You do realise more people lost their jobs other than just the anchors? Your posts, just like your hero are irrelevant.
I would prefer that no body was sacked, but due to the virus tough decisions had to be made. I think they made the right decision.
“Freebairn says one of the most important things to her is keeping our forecasts local – so she’ll be filming separate weather reports for Adelaide and Melbourne.”.
Hrmm. Clearly they could do the weather from Adelaide. Seems they just don’t want to.
Network 10 statement:
“Josh will join Sandra Sully and Matt Burke for the Sydney, Brisbane and Perth weekday bulletins“
Seems Sandra confirmed for Perth.
So in summer these people will be finishing work at 9:30pk at night.
People will not be interested in delayed bulletins or pre recorded forecasts.
This is woeful.
If seven and nine can maintain 5 news studios in major metro markets 10 could’ve. They could’ve cut other things and saved the bulletins. They will rue the day.
It’s the one time that I hoped for nothing else other than a 5pm bulletin on 10, as long as it was local.
