Ten News First Presenters and Reporters

Again, the Adelaide studio is going. Kaput. Fineto.

He means they could do it from out and about in Adelaide, or pull up a portable green screen and a news camera and film it.

Do you mean that they’re literally deconstructing the set as well?

Wow this truly bizarre. I was living in Perth around the time when Ten News came back to Perth, I never really got to see much of Neralda, but from the clips I have seen on YouTube, she does have a commanding presence presenting the news. I’m now living in England , just reading this from a far brings a tear as all those journalists and behind the scenes crews in the local cities in Adelaide and Perth have no job come this Friday.

Odd odd odd ODD decisions all round.

Mike Larkan has told the Herald Sun that his loyal viewers have put together “some sort of tribute” which will be shown on the Melbourne bulletin on Friday.

Thats not how that works though.

I’d say so, not immediately though.

Sad if true. As I’ve said, they have one of my favourite sets 10 News sets :frowning:

Georgie has put some nice flashback pics on her Instagram story this morning ranging back to early 2012.

I’m hoping there are going to be farewells tomorrow. Would be sad if this article does a better tribute than the place these people have worked at for decades:

As one of the comments on the article said, a phenomenal loss.

Dunno what management see in Josh Holt. Larkin shouldn’t be shafted for the Adelaide weather presenter either.

Still better than Bailey I suppose.

While I agree that Mike is great, they needed to provide some level of familiarity for Adelaide viewers. Kate seems to be pretty decent too though.

He seems to be a toned down Bailey from what i’ve seen of him. Stupid phraseology, such as “spits, spats and thunderclaps”, and a presentation style more suited to a primary school teacher giving a lesson on weather and climate to primary school students. At least he won’t alienate Ten’s Sydney audience who are used to their forecast being delivered with a heavy dose of tom foolery.

Yeah nah. Daily Bailey was great man. Has a great enthusiasm into presenting weather for Sydney viewers and uses a lot of good vocabulary when describing the weather. As well he has a great sense of humor. Am going to miss him for the final time.
I know Josh Holt well when i watched Channel 10 Early News. He has previously worked in the SYdney studios. Will be interesting when he returns to Sydney come Monday.

I’m so confused. For years we have called for the “Daily Baily” to be scrapped, and now everyone is saying that they loved his weather???

@Nicholas Some here obviously liked him but probably didn’t want to speak up earlier because it would’ve been a popular opinion with some members here who disliked him.

I really don’t get all the praise for Tim Bailey, his forecasting style has long been irritating at best.

Now admittedly I’ve never met the guy in real life, but going by what I’ve seen on-screen Tim Bailey is possibly the worst weather presenter we’ve ever had on any early evening Sydney TV news bulletin. I mean there’s a time and place for personality in a news bulletin (Dalts and Raskall have to be a small reason why the bulletins they’re part of get #1 ratings in their respective markets), but the weather segment is one that should be treated with a significant level of credibility and authority.

Whenever I’ve seen Bailey carrying on like a pork chop with an umbrella in severe weather people have died during, with his dog in the studio or generally taking 2-3 minutes to go through the weather photos resulting in the actual forecast being sped up so the bulletin can end on time (even then, there have been occasions when it hasn’t!), I’ve wondered how people can take him - or even Ten’s Sydney weather segment as a whole - seriously.
