Chances are it will be Sandra because she’s a known hit with viewers in that timeslot nationally. One thing that won’t return sadly is the Brad McEwan banter with him having moved on from the industry…

If they did get Sandra to present the Late News, they could possibly get Hugh Riminton to replace her on the Sydney/Brisbane bulletin/s at 5:00pm. Alternatively, Sandra could stay on 5:00pm for both markets and Hugh could do the Late News (also worth noting he did present Nightline on Channel Nine in the past).

Or reintroduce a proper locally produced bulletin in Queensland and use Sandra’s time to pre-record the late bulletin at 6-7pm.

Why would you want a prerecorded late bulletin at least 3-4 hours before it actually airs 
I don’t even think 10 would do that. No amount of bringing Sully back (which I highly doubt) would be worth that.

Even with the new Melbourne appointments to the newsroom in the last week or so (have they lost that many staff recently?), 10 are currently advertising for another full time position to join the Melb team.

Yeah I was thinking Hugh could present Sydney and (until local presentation returns) QLD. He’d be well known to the viewers given his stint co-presenting the bulletin in 2014-17 and more recently frequently presenting on Fridays

Sandra presented last Friday.
Doesn’t seem to be set in stone that she’s off on Fridays.

JP Gonzo made his way south from Tel Aviv to Ashkelon today (closer to the Gaza border) and filed a very detailed report this evening with a live cross. He’s doing a very good job as a VJ without the usual crew that the other networks travel with.

10 would have to be stupid to take Sandra off the Sydney bulletin. The ratings are bad enough for that market, although I doubt she’s the reason for the downturn.

Surely he would have a team with him in this type of scenario - at the very least a producer, local fixer/translator and security escorts.
You don’t have random foreign VJs wandering around war zones by themselves (Paramount’s insurers wouldn’t allow it for starters).

Aside from a fixer/stringer I doubt he has a producer. He certainly doesn’t have a camera or sound technician.

The downturn was caused by the centralisation of the Brisbane bulletin in 2020 and the product of the Sydney bulletin becoming a mess.
