Ten News First Content and Appearance

Brisbane used to do something similar when it was locally produced.

The Adelaide bulletin today is actually half decent. Plenty of live crosses and local content and the thing actually flows.

Intestate presenters aside, live and dedicated (rather than also producing Melbourne) is making all the difference.

These things happen when a live bulletin is presented to its market. Funny that!!

These hybrid live/local bulletins on weekdays are a travesty to tv news. They’re an abomination. If they just present these bulletins from Sydney and Melbourne, they need to at least leave multiple studios running these. The only truly live bulletin 10 present is Perth’s.

Agreed, Melbourne could push out local Adelaide news like it did in the old days. The space is there. Could still use the same weather and sports presenters from Melbourne in cut outs if need be. Just the single news presenter.

And they have free presenters, like Candice Wyatt

Until one of them is sick…

I thought the weekend bulletin was national (except WA) or is it like on weeknights when it’s live & local after the Eastern states finish up at 6:30pm their time?

It’s only local this weekend because of the SA state election.

That makes sense, thank you.

That’s actually not a bad idea to try and inject some localism into the Sunday bulletin leading into the Project. Won’t happen though.

Looks like the light strip around the framing of the middle vertical screen has gone in Melbourne

Melbourne has never had that light strip

Ah! They must have removed it when they went to the silver style, because in the original EWN they had it:

I must say though, the screens are showing their age, especially the middle one, very faint. Suffering the same issue the Sunrise plasma had before it was changed.

EDIT: actually it did have lighting in 2015

And then it was white:

The top cap is from their old studio before they moved to the newsroom floor studio ex-Adelaide news studio.

Yes it is…… and? :joy:

It appears that today’s Brisbane bulletin had a live insert during the first segment and updated opener and headlines with the discovery of the little girl Shayla Phillips safe and well in Tasmanian.

While the news was just coming in when the bulletin was being recorded at 4pm, both Seven and Nine’s 4pm bulletins didn’t have the full info for the story and didn’t cross to Tasmania; yet it was in 10’s headlines and there was a live cross for the third story of the bulletin.

and?? It’s not their flagship bulletins so not necessary. Their 4pm bulletins are more localised, while 10’s catered for multiple cities, so would be easier to do

Seven and Nine both said that “details are still coming into the newsroom” during their afternoon news and would be available later, the live report on 10 had story details and vision that did not appear to be available at the time that the bulletin is usually recorded.

10 getting a very prominent spot on The New Daily’s homepage but too bad that the content is from yesterday. An obvious problem when you’re National on the weekend, with no updates earlier in the day.
