Ten Network - Programs and Schedules

I would argue that the 7.30-8.40 slot is definitely in the process of being worked on. Lots of decent content coming out atm. Let’s see how Shark Tank rates tonight.

They need to fix the slot prior to 7.30.

Will also be interesting to see how afternoons now rate with the new soap lineup.

7:30pm onwards could be so much stronger with a family program/ gameshow at 7pm leading in.

Australians for whatever reason don’t resonate with The Project. Surely sacrificing the very small good it apparently does to offer a wide ranging program will be worth it in the longer term.

A big spending gameshow at 7pm like Deal or No Deal or Sale of the Century would surely get more viewers than The Project.

DOND at 7 could work and provide a good alternative to ACA and H&A.

Exactly.

Doubt it. Game shows are repetitive and boring. The novelty wears off quickly.

That’s just not true at all.

That’s just your opinion. I can have my own.

They sort of have to say that though, don’t they? Can’t imagine they’ll be too keen to validate this story (no doubts about the authenticity) if it potentially disrupts their strategy with planning, PR, upfronts, negotiations etc.

Actually it’s a fact.

Sale of the Century, Millionaire, Deal or no Deal, Wheel of Fortune, The Chase and more all have had long successful runs.

In fact, The Chase currently quite often is the top entertainment program in the ratings.

Then the novelty wore off for most. There’s a reason there are none in prime time though. They don’t appeal to a wider audience these days. They mostly appeal to pensioners who watch before the news.

Game Shows don’t seem to match 10’s demos very well. At least the current ones on air. The Chase (5.30pm) that if often the top rated non-news show on weekdays rarely makes the top 10 in the key demos that networks are chasing.

Yea the novelty wore off so they kept it fresh by installing a new gameshow.

10 don’t seem to be interested at all in addressing The Project.

We all know that nothing rates at the 6-7pm hour for 10. Would Deal or No Deal work at 6pm? Maybe for the first few weeks, but the novelty will wear off. Just like when the News extended to 90 minutes. The 6pm portion rarely makes the top 20 in the ratings.

I say “no deal” to the deal ;p

I noticed the change in story and think it is partly being implemented to help The Project that currently has to start off a very low base. An improved 6pm result could help primetime get off to a better start.

I don’t think that’s particularly fair esp at 7.30 they have had a number of new launches this year and not focussing on just playing reality shows at that time.

6pm - 7pm would be ideal - a great family viewing alternative to the saturation of news which starts from 3pm every day. Start their 7.30pm shows at 7pm and move The Project to 10.30pm!

But not as dire as The Traitors.

However, worth noting that both outrated The Chase in the key demos for the night.

10 should have a game show in their suite.

But:

  1. Of all the game shows, why this one? It feels like a stale format that, even with a new host, gives me an icky feeling. I’m not sure it chases the younger demos they’re after either. Deal or No Deal just feels off brand for 10.

  2. I thought they realised that a game show was not an ineffective bridge between news and The Project. Australians seem to like game shows that lead-in to the news

I suppose now though we know why Neighbours is at 4.30pm.

Wouldn’t be the worst thing to run after the evening Working Dog staples etc. At the moment I just switch off/go to bed/go to streaming when the NCIS, Paramount+ repeats etc come on. A show like this would keep me around for another half hour.
