Of all those shows the obsession with Bull is the most baffling. It has never rated whatsoever. And it just seems like a really lame and limiting premise for a show.
You’d think 10 would’ve had some 8:30 content ready to go for post Olympics to try and salvage the back end of the year.
I’m not sure these comedy specials are strong enough in their own right to get people tuning in.
Its actually smart programming by 10 to try and hold onto some of their HYBPA and Cheap Seats audience by airing similar programming afterwards - its sure kept me with them for part or all of the comedy special depending on who they’re showing.
Just For Laughs has been in the Monday timeslot for some time now where it is a good demo performer. As 10pm content it can usually be relied upon to outrates whatever is on Nine and Seven at 9pm in the key demo groups.
Probably just means someone on the scheduling staff likes it.
Many of the more puzzling decisions on FTA in Australia tend to come down to arbitrary shit like that.
The unfortunate thing is that CBS has put Ten in the too hard basket (to try and move it from third, sometimes fourth ranked network) and is only investing the minimum in the network. I believe Ten have the staff to produce good content including a weekly current affair show (a possible vehicle for Lisa Wilkinson or Chris Bath) and a Crimestoppers/Australias Most Wanted style show (a possible vehicle for Hugh Riminton). The problem is CBS isnt going to invest the money to produce content when its cheaper the air repeats such as Bull and Blue Bloods.
At this point CBS arent doing the worst job - it could have been much worse if Bruce Gordon got his hands on the network - look at 10Peach’s offerings when WIN was a Ten affiliate and some of the “regional” variations on Christmas Day during with Ten/WIN affiliation years - a choir based program and The Saddle Club.
its good in theory to try something different, but its all about being willing to experiment, which CBS isnt willing to do
