The technology is there these days (and has been for a number of years) to make satellite footprints quite small- it would have be quite feasible to have unencrypted state based satellite feeds with a footprint that minimises overspill into other parts of the country.
Probably too little, too late now though, I think we’re stuck with VAST the way it is until FTA over IPTV takes over completely.
Looking at the local TV guide for Sunday night It’s saying that at 11:30pm the Sunday Project will be on a bit stupid on WIN’s part If they are going to cease transmission of MDT half way during the program, Waiting on PVR to be delivered should get It tomorrow & I’m going to record what happens on Sunday night then I’ll post for everyone.
10 DDT has just opened a new sales office on Whitfield Street in Darwin CBD. Nine has merged DDT and NTD under 1 umbrella for sales - so seems they’ll be sticking around for a little bit longer.
I thought they were either going to work from home like other SCA sales staff, or move into Nine’s building?

The restrictive access and complex application procedures are all for nothing as VAST has ended up being so outdated* that no one wants to gain out-of-area access anyway. Just make it free-to-air. Linear broadcast is slowly dying… ain’t nobody got time fo’ dat.
*(except VAST WA which is actually half decent representing a typical regional lineup more closely than RC&E)
If it’s anything like SCA10’ s final minutes in Nth NSW before WIN took over in 2017, it will be very uneventful.
That was switched off halfway through an ad at 1.05am with no fanfare whatsoever. A black screen followed. A rescan was required to watch WIN
Councils could potentially have a role to play. Given how many fund translator sites right now - it’s not a huge leap up to deciding to provide a full broadcast service - either by seeking to use the VAST option to add a CDT translator (assuming that’s allowed under the scope), or to obtain the third license in Mildura once/if the ACMA re-advertise it following the closure of MDT.
That said, given councils are cutting back - maybe you’ll see them stop providing services and rely more on vast or streaming online.
I don’t think your suggestion would go down well with ratepayers, remember if councils bought into TV licences then they would have to pay for the up keep of transmission facilities & then there are the affiliation deals, Here In the MDT licence areas transmitters at Ouyen, Robinvale & Walpeup are owned & maintained by RBA Holdings which is partly owned by WIN.
I just did an advanced search for Mildura and these channels are still listed on www.yourTV.com.auI have deleted all others on prove it.

It is still showing all available channel 10 channels are available after Monday.i think this will confuse viewers, especially if Tens networks promos continue to show programs and their scheduled beyond Sunday night
i think just because you’ve filtered the view and set the location on your device it doesn’t follow with sharing the link
If you select Mildura without the filtering of channels it’s still coming up.
I’ve noticed that as well you would think they would know by now that from Monday Mildura won’t have channel 10.
