Ten HD

As NQCQTV2 said, if you can Ten HD, you should be able to get 7flix too. Try a complete rescan; maybe you need to delete your existing channel list first.

Yes, and both channels are using the same MPEG-4 compression, so you should either be getting both or none.

Is there a technical reason for the volume being a lot lower on 13 than on SD channels?

Maybe something to do with the audio being Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound on Ten (and Nine) HD, compared to the stereo audio of other channels?

Madam Secretary is in SD. Is the news and Studio 10 (confirmed to me) the programs that are going to be shown in HD?!? What a joke.

You know what…

With my Samsung telly, YES, the audio on both Nine HD and Ten HD is a lot quieter the it is with SD

But!

Via my Panasonic HDD recorder, the audio on HD is LOUDER on HD than on SD -again for both Nine and Ten.

So I think it comes down to how your receiver processes MPEG 4.

On some systems the AC3 audio that the HD channels use sounds softer because it is less compressed than the MPEG that the SD channels use - it is actually a good thing as it provides a wider dynamic range. 13 is louder on my system. Sometimes there is an adjustment that can be made hidden somewhere in the audio settings of the device.

Presumably whatever sport Ten still have on their main channel will most likely be HD, but apart from that I have no idea what else will be shown in HD.

Sounds like a massive fuck up. They really should have nearly all their programming including news in HD. For fuck sake it’s 2016.

That’s the problem. What’s the point of a HD channel if you don’t show anything (apart from news/current affairs) in HD?

It’s a kick in the face to viewers when they’re watching a show in SD and then see an ad in HD.

I’m a Celebrity… was HD.

Yes, agree ā€œMadam Secretaryā€ looks to be SD, which is rather ordinary.
I can’t imagine it being produced in SD in this day and age - hopefully TEN get this rectified and get HD copies of this show in future.

TEN should be doing what Nine did and be removing the HD watermark from any shows that are upscaled SD.

Were you watching it in South Africa? If that’s HD then 9HD is in 4k.

Nine even manage to air stuff Good Morning America at 3.30am (of all shows!) in HD, yet Ten can’t air key primetime programing in HD? I really don’t know what to say about that…

And yes, I know that Nine has the odd show (Hot Seat comes to mind) still produced in SD along with whatever local bulletins that aren’t HD ready but at least almost all major primetime programs (both on a local and international basis) movies and sporting events on Nine’s main channel are shown in HD!

I agree. They may as well have left things as they were until Ten was 100% ready to run a HD primary channel with a decent majority of their major programs being shown in HD.

Can anyone confirm whether or not The Project aired in HD tonight?

The Project to my eyes appeared in HD. Detail was better then the SD channel.

I’m a Celebrity is definitely SD. It may look better as it is now upscaled Mpeg4 with a decent bitrate which may make it look smoother.

Well I THOUGHT it was ??? I only had a pretty quick look.

They announced they would be in HD tonight on The Project last night.

Thanks, I’ll look for it because it’s bloody annoying when you channel surf and each channel is at a different level. I recorded The Project on 13 on my Topfield PVR tonight and when I played it back I had turn the volume up to 60. Unacceptable.

I’m a Celebrity was absoutely in HD

One thing’s for sure…the picture quality of Ten’s SD channel is now almost on par with that of a 360p YouTube video!

Not from exactly the same scene, but here’s two caps (one from LCN-10, the other from LCN-13) of a similar scene. Even if not in native HD, I’m sure that you can tell the difference:

The graphics apart from some text wasn’t in HD, studio shots to me looked HDish but soft.

Maybe it was shown in HD in Brisbane, no way it was HD here.
