The last printer/scanner combo that I owned was a Brother - sadly they’re built to be a consumable these days.
I’ve heard good things about Epson, but haven’t had any experience with one for nearly a decade.

I’ve had a couple of Epsons. They seem fine.
Epson is good - this is my current printer

Thanks guys
I did have a combo EPSON printer/scanner in the past. And worked well for years. The cost of the colour inkjet refills however were killing me & if I didn’t use them regularly enough the nozzles would dry & block up. Although nothing was wrong with the machine I decided to put it out for Council Cleanup due to cost of running the printer.
In hindsight I should have kept it for the scanner functionality, but it was big & bulky.
I decided many years ago to buy a separate Brother Laser Printer & a Canon Scanner. The Brother printer was a great buy, been reliable & cheap to run. The place where I buy my generic cartridges for it told me I have a great model as the later ones as @bacco007 mentioned are basically built as consumables.
The Canon scanners I won’t buy again. The first one went faulty 6 months after warranty expired. Canon didn’t want to know me. The 2nd slightly more expensive Canon scanner I replaced it with did last longer, but for the past year the one touch buttons now no longer function. I won’t be buying Canon scanners again. I would welcome recommendations for flatbed scanners brands & models.
I have an Epson and it’s so much better than my old HP.
i guess the question now is what do I do with this unopened box of Canon ink cartridges that will most likely now not be used?
Have you still got the receipt for it? Perhaps try taking it back for a refund and say your printer stopped working and you are buying a new one.
pfft. who keeps receipts
Curious - what are you guys all printing?
100% would recommend EPSON. Never had a problem (that wasn’t user error ) with them. Normally get the workplace spec ones - slight overkill I know
having had Canons for 20+ years it will be sad but i might just have to make the switch.
For higher volume stuff, I’ve never been disappointed with a Brother printer.
I rarely print anything at home these days, so I own a cheap Epson inkjet which is OK for printing here and there. It’s been pretty decent.
A few years back I had a HP colour laser printer which was abominably poor.
Anyone planning to get the new iPhone15 on Friday?
The prices are a bit ridiculous though… cheapest is the 128 GB basic 15 at $1,499 and go up to $2,899 for a 1TB Pro Max.
. I’m happy with my 14 pro. Got it in May whilest in Melbourne and this phone will last me for three years .
Those prices are ouch ! Can only imagine how much the Telstra and Optus phone plans with the iPhone 15 will be !
I didn’t realise the pro was a 1 TB version is that a first? I actually put a 1 TB SD card in my Samsung S20 3 years ago now.
There is a 1TB iPhone 14 (Pro Max) too. 1TB is as much SD memory as Android phones can read I think.
I ordered on on Friday night, but because apples store was playing up it took about half an hour to get in so I’m now waiting to see what the delivery date is (current estimate is between the 29th and the 19th)
Which model, size, colour?
Pro Max 256gb
