Tech Talk

My main tv is a 2008 Sony Bravia 52 inch LCD (edit might have actually been a 2007 - it was a clearance model at Dick Smith Powerhouse we paid about $4700 I remember).
Still going strong - I did have a lightning strike/power surge a few years ago but they just repaired it by replacing the HDMI board. Can’t deny that I was mildly disappointed about that LOL. Doesn’t see a lot of use these days (don’t have the time) but still produces a pretty great picture and can’t justify replacing it until it dies.

I remember RealPlayer too. It was a big feature on my first home computer, before Windows Media Player came along.

Is there anyone in the Media Spy group of folk that have a reasonable knowledge of functions & coding or script writing in Google Sheets? @bacco007 ?
I’m trying to generate a couple of tables on another worksheet for our Media Spy RDS List (Google Sheet) ref RDS forum.

Basically I’m trying to do an extension (addition to) of the two 'Engineering Tools I/P O/P display tables, to print one or either or both tables based on existing in use PI codes or last two digits of in use PI codes.
I want to display the transmitters & columns of details where these in use codes are
The “Testing” worksheet is my current testing worksheet.
The functions or scripting needs to recognise the PI code as a HEX number.
I’m also thinking of a execute button might also be good to execute the showing the intended tables for in use PI codes &/or the ‘in use’ last 3rd & 4th digits of PI codes.

Radio Engineers & ultimately FM RDS radio listeners would be the beneficiaries of this work.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

my first video capture card was part of a real player creator package - it cost work (i think) around $1500 USD and we brought 10.

It came with the capture card and software that allowed you to create both live and recorded real player files.

Before i had a pc that could play (and store) .mp3, i would convert my CDs to real player files so i could play them whenever

I’m a TPG customer and I’m not happy about this.

If TPG don’t reduce their prices once I have to start paying for email, I’ll seriously consider changing ISPs. This is wrong, email is an important part of internet services.

I’m waiting for the day Telstra Bigpond emails are phased out… that’s going to be hell on earth for a lot of people.

Sorry to hear you are affected.

Are you able to back up all your emails and contacts?

Yes I can back them up.

I’ve migrated to the new provider, and its free for the first 12 months, will see what happens this time next year if I have to start paying.

They did a few months back.

First it was Business email hosting that was phasing out several months ago, now we’ve been told they will no longer offer website hosting.

Thankfully, they said the domain hosting will be automatically transferred to VentraIP, and no further action is required.

next up is a set of speakers (its running though bluetooth at the moment)

Telcos will begin shutting down their 3G networks from December 15.

Vodafone will be the first network to disconnect, followed by Telstra on June 30, 2024 and finally Optus network in September the same year.

I find it interesting that Vodafone is the first to shut down 3G, if i recall correctly they were the last to shut down 2G?

I wonder how reliable those Chinese manufactured 7nm chips will be? Time will tell I guess.

Looking for some tips for buying a new printer.

My Canon Pixma MG4160 which has worked flawlessly for 15 years looks like it’s now dead and no longer being supported by Canon.

I was hoping to stick with Canon for a replacement as I’ve traditionally used Canon printer/scanners without any problem, but a lot of the online reviews for current Canon models are not great. Doesn’t fill me with much confidence.

Anyone here have any recommendations for a new printer/scanner combo? I don’t want to get the cheapest one out there as it will be doing a lot of scanning, probably more scanning than printing at this stage.
