Taskmaster Australia

Are Peter Helliar, Mel Buttle, Aaron Chen, Concetta Caristo And Rhys Nicholson Up To The Task?

Taskmaster Season Two Coming To 10 And 10 Play In 2024.

TV Week Logie Award 2023 nominee, BAFTA-winning, International Emmy-nominated and fan favourite comedy powerhouse Taskmaster is set to unleash a new bunch of comedians for a second hilarious season, coming to 10 and 10 Play in 2024.

Tom Gleeson will once again star as the Taskmaster, with his trusty sidekick Tom Cashman returning as his devoted assistant. Each week the two Toms will set the comedians a range of ridiculous tasks designed to puzzle brains.

Who’ll master the tasks you might ask? The brightest comedians will score the most points from the Taskmaster, while bewilderment and confusion will be rewarded with the fewest points. At series’ end, the comedian with the most points will be crowned Taskmaster champion.

And who exactly are these comedians ready to risk their reputations on Australian TV’s most outrageous, laugh-out-loud comedy show? None other than Peter Helliar, Mel Buttle, Aaron Chen, Concetta Caristo and Rhys Nicholson.

Adapted from the hit UK format of the same name, Taskmaster rewards innovation, berates stupidity and promises countless laughs.

Taskmaster is produced for Network 10 by Avalon / Kevin & Co.

In a market update last December, Rod Prosser said that Taskmaster would be coming in Q1 this year.

Given Ambulance / Dog House are filling the Wed & Thurs night slots for the next 2 (?) months at least, I wonder what there plans are for the timeslot of this show given it rated moderately in the 7:30pm slot on Thursday nights last year.

My best guess would be 8:30pm Mondays given they’ve usually had some type of comedy in this slot prior to HYBPA? returning, and seemingly with WILTY? AU not returning this year.

Survivor usually switches to 2 days a week half way through the season; so Tuesdays might be free in a month.

With Celebrity starting in 8 weeks, it works out to be 3 episodes a week (if they have 24 episodes again). Originally they must have planned to have 4 episodes for a few weeks. :man_shrugging:

No advertising for Taskmaster makes me think that is has been pushed back.

Solid line-up there!

I didn’t recognise Jenny’s name at first, but a quick search and I’ve definitely seen her videos online.

They had me until Wil Anderson… actually not really a fan of Josh Thomas either. Will give it a go and hopefully they don’t ruin it too much for me. At least there’s plenty of other seasons of UK and NZ to catch up on.

Good on ten for giving an up and comer early career comedian like Wil Anderson a gig.

Honestly, he’s so over exposed. Immediate switch off. Geraldine Hickey, Sam Campbell and Greg Larsen would all have been better picks.

There are up and comers in each season. If they were all newbies, people would complain they are unknowns so not worth tuning in.

They’re trying to have a mix of established comedians and newbies. In the first season they had Julia Morris and Danielle Walker. Both brought us laughs with what they did.

Also, you don’t really know how well they will perform on Taskmaster until they are on it. It’s quite different from their usual comedy routines.
