He couldn’t be voted for in the re-vote
Yes that was a great and very satisfying Tribal Council. I love it when we get unpredictable and chaotic merge votes. This is what I like about Shot in the dark. Everyone has the opportunity to use it, everyone knows about it and if you are at the bottom there is still some hope.
The only thing that would have made this Tribal better would have been if someone like Emily did a rogue vote that sent someone else home. I guess she knew he was getting the votes so didn’t want to put herself on the outs by voting differently.
So far this is becoming been the best season of the modern era (41 onwards) IMO. The 90 minutes give us more time to see tribal dynamics and I like this cast overall too. Some of the recent seasons have relied on a few standout players but this season its a pretty decent cast as a whole.
Yes I didn’t realise that was the rule
I agree it’s a good season and getting better, but having 2 players effectively quit put me off at first.

Great, well executed tribal last night and good to see an episode with a reward and immunity challenge.
Nine will again show the Survivor final live on 9Go! in all markets with an encore that night.

This has been a really good season. It hasn’t been as crazy on the advantages as some of the more recent seasons and strategically it hasn’t been there most exciting but it has felt a bit more old school, which has made it good. With the extra 30 minutes per episode, I feel like we know the contestants well and have a lot more insights into what is going on, so you care about the players more. Some of the recent seasons have been very twist heavy and a lot crammed into episodes, so you see the contestants more as numbers/players and not so much knowing or caring about a lot of them.
I think the door is open for the winner too. I think Jake is a shoe in for F3 with little chance at getting any votes (I’ll also predict with his edit, he will waste his Idol at the F5 too). On the red side Julie, Austin or Dee could all be in with a chance but am thinking likely 1 or 2 of them will be voted out next. Katurah could also be a dark hourse if she slips through and get some of the blue tribe members votes on the jury. So hoping we could actually have a close vote this season no matter what combination is there at the end.
Given the edit, I can’t see anyone but Dee winning. And it will probably be a landslide.
New season 46 premieres on 9Go!
Thursday 29 February 7:30pm - 2 hour opening episode.
It seems a strange reason to not have the auction. Setting up some of those challenges would be far more complicated.
I’m not holding high hopes for this season especially given they weren’t sure on the episode length at the time of filming. Although often the seasons that I go into with low expectations end up being the good ones so hopefully that’s the case.
Another bunch of Americans with backstories was stranded on a Fijian beach last night. Seemed fairly bland cast with no stand outs yet. Ratings on CBS were about the same as last season.
It’s always hard to tell this early on what a cast is like but I do remember last season seeing a lot more standout cast members from the beginning. It was ok for a premiere but not great either. It didn’t need to be 2 hours.
What I am really getting over is the 3x6 tribe division that they have done for 6 seasons in a row now. In this scenario there’s usually one tribe that goes down to small numbers and another that barely pays the game until the merge. Mix it up!! I want 2 tribes again. Also there too many of the same similar elements now that have existed since 41, like the first ep being tribes fighting for resources with the losers having backup challenges on their beach, then 3 people going off to win/lose votes. I really hope next season they add in some new ideas and/or bring back some older elements of the game (like the auction, even an eating challenge etc).
I liked the long premiere and the slower pace of it. I felt I got to know the players a lot more than in the last few seasons.
Season 47 will start shooting in May.
Sonja Christopher, the first person ever to be voted out of Survivor, has died at the age of 87. Her passing was first reported on social media by season 46 contestant Liz Wilcox.
Today, the legend herself Sonja Christopher of Season One passed away. I had the pleasure of meeting her on Christmas. She had so much spunk + love for Survivor and what the show brought to her life. I hope you’re singing + playing your heart out somewhere beautiful, Sonja. pic.twitter.com/H2hqRX1Cjc
