That’s interesting if 2MG Mudgee moves to 97.1FM, with sister station RealFM just slightly up the dial at 97.9FM.
It’s also close-ish to sister station 2BS at 95.1FM.

Real FM on 97.9 is actually a translator service for Kandos/Rylstone. Its main frequency is 93.1.
2MG’s FM frequency for its Kandos/Rylstone translator service will be 101.5.
They had issues with their satelitte so had to run local programming for a few days while it was being fixed.
Ahhh! Thank you!
Damn. I was looking forward to a local programming option for BOG stations. A shame that Newcastle (NewFM) can do whatever they like…
They probably just played music without any talk or voice tracked which sometimes I would prefer over 2SMs content. Even if the music was automatically selected.
IIRC that’s what the AM network used to play in the 00’s on weekend overnight.
I’m sure Bill is grimacing at the cost of the extra royalty money leaving his account to cover this time.
In more recent years, I would have to agree. However, pre-Covid (or pre-SCA sacking its regional Hit brekkie teams), this would not have been said then.
BOG are shining by its consistency, whilst other networks are continually cutting costs & staff numbers.
BOG is doing a Steven Bradbury in regional radio. I agree. They may just become a desirable place to cut your teeth in radio given its flexibility & freedom to try new things regionally.
At the end of the day, an up & coming announcer would much prefer to have a brekkie shift on a BOG FM regional station rather than be working in Admin at a networked regional SCA station.
The only issue being the low pay and that morale is not good in some places like Newcastle apparently.
(Literally) a somewhat small price to pay in order to have more creative freedom.
And no streaming. Seriously, it’s a real opportunity missed.
The BOG stations have some great formats : ZZZ Lismore, Gorilla, Zoo and to a lesser extent Fun and Dance.
Yeah. Big (networks) is not always better. Bill C. may have his flaws, but he remembers why a radio “farm system” is needed.
Congratulations @Paul_Covo_Covington if you are still around on this site.
The fact that Covo has been at 2GF longer than I’ve been alive is a testament to the man. Can’t believe I won’t hear his dolcet tones on air back home.
Pardon the silly question - what shift did he do on 2GF?
I thought they were only local at breakfast.
I regularly read the local news in Grafton and Coffs Harbour.
I filled the breakfast shift for a short time between when Richie left last year and Misty Fisher started. I have also been the host of the 2HC afternoon program this year and did my last show yesterday, Wednesday 24 April 2024.
This was in addition to sales and all the other things a conscientous SRN employee does.
Oh wow. I had no idea 2HC’s Afternoon Show came from Grafton.
Who is replacing the Afternoons there?
