Super Radio Network

None of the NQ stations take any Super Radio/BOG content.

From memory, aren’t they only a 50/50 venture?

Close enough

Often behind in updating the site. Pete and others send their voice tracks/programs to the station.

4AM/KZ/Kool discussion posts should be moved to the independent regional radio topic.

The most recent media reports show that as of 2021BOG owns 49% of NQ Radio.

The Alice Springs stations had the 49% stake in NQ Radio for a long time, so BOG got that when they bought 8HA & Sun FM, but the stations remained independently managed with the remaining 51% owned by Al Kirton and some local investors.

However, it looks like BOG may have increased that stake in late 2023. Al Kirton retired at the end of 2023, and ASIC filings show that there was a change in shareholding in Coastal Broadcasters Pty Ltd (the licensee of the NQ Radio stations) in December 2023. The ACMA control database also no longer shows Al Kirton or anyone else outside of BOG to have control of the station. This means that Bill and his wife must now be the directors and no other shareholder (if any) owns more than 14.9% If someone wants to pay ASIC for the company extract the above can be confirmed, but I’m not that intestested.

… So when is 4AM going to take Lawsy and other SRN programming?

The stations are listed on the network page of the SRN website too:

That page gives off a very 90s vibe! Brings back memories of Geocities and the like.

Well done to the team at 2DU & ZooFM with new look websites (which look to be made locally).

www.zoofm.net.au
www.2du.com.au

Worth noting: 2DU have a pretty decent catch-up/podcast page & ‘Jingles’ page as well (featuring past imaging):
Listen-Now – 2DU 1251AM Dubbo | 972AM Cobar
Jingles – 2DU 1251AM Dubbo | 972AM Cobar

Some effort has/is going into this website. Good work.

4GY’s audio problem has finally been addressed with the right hand channel now back!

One thing that seems to be new this year….

Over the last few nights, I’ve heard very little network programming on 2RE (except John Laws I think). Even on weekend afternoons and evening, I’ve heard them playing their own music as eg 2HD have the usual talk programming on.

Perhaps Bill sees 2RE as a star performer on the network and allows them to go it alone, maybe that explains why 2BS is similar.

Bit harder to tell with MAX FM though, as it’s a bit harder to get where I am since it has to battle against 2SER.

Most of the AMs on the Super Radio Network are local between 6am to 6pm apart from 9am to 12pm John Laws. Does 2RE replace the evening sport show and talk tonight with their own show?

Yes they do.

That is what makes them a bit more unique.

I had no idea Bill would allow his stations to not take their networked shows.

A shame the 2RE website does not reflect this:
https://2re.com.au/radio-shows/

So to confirm - are you saying that 2RE does not take Talkin’ Sport, nor Gary Stewart? Instead, plays automated music?

I wonder if this just rolled out when they switched to FM?

What about Max107.3? Are they just as local?

No, even late last year they were taking “Talk Tonight”.

Not sure about Max FM, that’s a bit harder to get at my location re 2SER.

It would be much easier if they just put a live stream for at least all their FM stations , as well as put them on the Radio App.

It would, but under current ownership, can’t see that happening for a while at least.

Update:

2RE FM had “Talk Tonight” back on tonight. I’m not sure why I hadn’t heard it recently?

I also received 2BS FM tonight too, they had “Talk Tonight” as well.
