Late last year, I drove between Brisbane and Sydney for the most part, listened exclusively to BOG stations.
Didn’t listen to 2LM or 2GF as they were on relay.
Triple Z and 1047 Grafton were local, each with different music logs and you could tell the announcer was local.
I also listened to 2HC Coffs Harbour and Super Radio 531 93.5 Port Macquarie (They really need a proper name) during their local hours - both had different playlists and the talk breaks were about local issues/events. John O’Callaghan in Port Macquarie sounds so much like his legendary father…and he was filling in as local newsreader in Taree late last week.
Then of course Taree - MAXFM & 2RE.
It got me thinking…while there is a lot of criticism about the network, the local offerings are very good, with passionate on air staff that do a great job…If the network were to be sold off, we’d lose all of this!
