Super Radio Network

Satellite not working for Radio 97, Scott was on air at least after 11, read all the news bulletins and music shift, did foreshadow best of John Laws, so we know the internet is working at Tweed Heads South for it to be emailed up.

Today on the birthday of Stan Zemanek (29 May 1947), happened to be listening to a block of ads on Radio 97.

Bumper promo into the break: “Super Radio Network, Australia’s premier regional radio network”.

A Stan phrase would often say his callers, making it a trademark of his broadcasting, “self recommendation is no praise”.

James Yelland, or whoever writes those liners, try and be more humble in future.

it’s a little tactic to gently remind possible suitors, including SCA, that’s there a bunch of stations in the network and they’d better look at increasing their offers substantially.

I heard that one this morning on 2LF Young (on my way back home now via Bathurst), and I had a little laugh.

Yes, I know it would be a dig at SCA, but I think they can hardly call themselves the “premier” network when their coverage is limited to just northern & western NSW and southern QLD.

My grandmother used to say it the other way around “Self praise is no recommendation”.
It’s one of my favourites!

Mine too, I’m sure moreso for you with the connection to your Grandmother.

It’ll be 13 years this December since Stan finished up at 2UE, I may have it transposed. Would need to hear audio.

Sounds like something playing with themselves…if you get my drift.

Bit of a stretch, but they’re probably clutching at 2HD Newcastle being Australia’s first regional radio station, therefore they would be Australia’s first (premiere) regional radio network?
Like I said a bit of a stretch, but there’s no other link to that claim for them.

Agree, great to receive your view.

Graeme Gilbert announced at the end of tonight’s show that he will be on an expanded network from Monday. Has another broadcaster decided to run Talk Tonight?

I’ll take a guess and say the Roger and Scott Harris owned 8HA Alice Springs, 4KZ Innisfail and 4AM Atherton Mareeba, only because they take the John Laws show. I’m probably wrong!

John Laws said they are going into 2BS now? What happened to Ray?

One less station he’s on, that’s a good thing. That’s what’s happened.

If I had to choose between John Laws or Ray Hadley, I’d probably go for Ray.

I don’t listen to either much, but I heard a bit of John Laws last week, and he just sounded downright cranky.

Ray just sounds like he has a short fuse on the few times that I have listened to him.

I’d be going neither - you’re meant to be a local station, not a Sydney relay. Works for 2NM.

Would be preferable if someone new had brought 2BS and the likes of Caralis and SCA died like the dinosaurs they are.

I’d be the same, but the operative word was IF

Even if the operative word was if, I’d still be going neither. They want those two bozos, get it online.

I suppose 2BS had better drop their “local voices” tagline once Bill’s done with them.

Also ironic that Hadley is pushing listeners to the station that had previously cut his show making him nearly boycott all SCA stations.
